I love pattern making โฅ๏ธ๐โ๏ธ
For this new project I chose a mid heel last with an almond toe shape.
I draw the design directly on a taped last, cut the tape along the center lines, and transfer it onto pattern paper with the least amount of wrinkles possible to create the master pattern.
Now I can start preparing separate pattern pieces for each upper and lining component.
Little tease, one part of this design cannot be drawn on the last, it has to be created seperatly ๐ ๐ ๐

Final Wicked touches for this magical custom pair โจ
I finished this Wicked inspired sneaker set today and gave each shoe a final touch of sparkle.
A bedazzled toe cap, shimmering laces, and a witchy trinket for each side.
Now this pair is fully ready for its red carpet moment ๐๐
Tell me, will you be brave enough to wear this pair?
Bringing Wicked energy to the soles today ๐๐
For Elphaba, I transformed a plain white sneaker sole into a deep black one with a glossy shine. I also added a bold trim around the rim to make it pop.
For Glindaโs sole I kept it clean and white, since I will be adding plenty of sparkle now that the shoe is off the last ๐ช
Stay tuned for the finishing details.

Back in the studio this morning, lasting two very different but equally fun custom sneakers.
The stiffeners are in, the layers are lasted, and next up, Iโll be building a pair of Wicked soles ๐
What color should these soles be ???
Stay tuned โจ
You canโt have an Elphaba without a Glinda ๐๐
I spent the day closing this pair, which is one of my favorite parts of shoemaking.
Closing is when all the upper and lining pieces come together and the shoes finally start to feel real.
After that, theyโre ready for lasting and the next stage begins.
Thereโs still more to come with this Wicked-inspired pair.
What do you think about that little fur touch around the collar โ too much? Glinda bling?
Feeling a little wicked in the studio today ๐๐ค

Any guesses which one ๐ช๐
The perfect pair for a perfect day ๐ซ
This is the moment everything comes together. After taking the shoes off the last, I finished the wedding mules with a soft lambskin insock, natural in tone to complement the veg tan sole and stacked heel.
Before the final fit, I made sure the delicate pearl jewels were secured in place, the edges perfectly finished, and the leather conditioned to a soft glow.
Congratulations to the lovely bride ๐๏ธ

The magic is in the sole ๐ โจ
Iโve been working on the soles and stacked leather heels for these wedding mules, and itโs such a satisfying stage. I chose a soft leather sole for comfort and paired it with a classic veg tan stacked heel for strength and warmth.
Each sole was cut by hand, sanded, dampened, and buffed until it had that smooth, natural shine I love. The heels took patience, built layer by layer with 5 mm veg tan leather, shaped and polished until everything fit perfectly.
Do you know why I dampen the leather before buffing?
Itโs a small step that makes a big difference in how the finish feels and looks ๐ค
Even the simplest shoes hide a million tiny steps.
Today I finished the insoles for my handmade bridal mules.โ๏ธโ๏ธโ๏ธ
When a shoe is a sandal, open toe, or open heel, the insole areas that will stay visible after lasting need covering before any lasting begins.
For this pair I used the same soft white lambskin leather as the lining, layered over a 3 mm foam cushion on texon board. I glue in stages, sides first, then top, then bottom, pressing and hammering each section flat.
Next comes prelasting, a quiet step most people never see. These shoes will sit with the pre-lasted uppers for at least 24 hours before the next stage.
I also added small jewel details to this pair, guess what they are ๐ชโจ

Creating wedding mules for fall ๐ โจ
Iโm really excited about this pair. Theyโre simple, elegant, and timeless.
I started by choosing a clean white leather thatโs buttery soft, with a smooth white lining to match. I marked and hand cut each piece, then skived the edges, folded them with hidden reinforcement tape, and added an interface layer to keep the shape firm and prevent stretching. The leather is delicate and flexible, so the interface helps it hold that perfect sculpted curve once the shoe is lasted.
It may look like a minimal design, but thereโs so much quiet detail in every step. I can already imagine how beautiful theyโll look when finished ๐ค
