Pietro Annigoni (1910–1988) was an Italian master of portraiture, known for his Renaissance-inspired realism and royal commissions.

One of his remarkable works is the double portrait of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and Empress Farah of Iran. Begun in Tehran and finished in Florence, the painting captured the imperial couple with dignity and elegance. Though the original was lost during the 1979 revolution in Iran, photographs preserve its historical and artistic significance.
