Thanks to all those who helped with setting up today!
We are sooo close to the opening!

For those who have work in the gallery, there will still be quite a bit of re-arrangement tomorrow when we get a better grasp of the visuals of all work (there are still pieces coming in tomorrow), there will be work study students there to help with the set up in the gallery, but you are still expected to come help out!

We will be opened again tomorrow at around 10:00a.m., for those who didn't get a chance to finish setting up today, let's aim to get it done by tomorrow! We are aiming to have as little last minute installation as possible!

Let's have another 90's themed installation tomorrow ;)

Hey everyone!

We have now posted the Volunteer Sign up sheet on our website. We've also sent out the link to most of you through email.

All participating artists in the show must sign up for more than one install shift and at least one gallery sit time. All artists are also responsible for the installation of their own work so please sign up for a time and make sure to show up so that we can help display your work in the best possible way.

Install starts on thursday April 10th through to the 15th.

Log into the website and you'll have access to the sign up sheet.

JURYING 28th March, Friday, 12p.m.

Hello fellow VISA students,

So you want to participate in the 2013/2014 BFA BA Visual Art Graduating Exhibition, and have written and submitted your exhibition work proposals. Now what?

Following the completion of your work proposals submissions, a selection committee will be visiting your studios and jury your proposed works. Participating students are required to have their works installed and ready for jury by 12p.m. on the 28th March (Friday).

Here are the details for the jury process:

What is a jury process?
It is a process in which the selection committee review your proposed works and choose which work(s) will be in the show.

Who is in the selection committee?
The selection committee is comprised of staff members of the VISA faculty.

When will the jurying take place?
The jurying will start at 12p.m. on the 28th March (Friday).

Where will the jurying take place?
The jurying will be at students’ respective studio spaces in the Audain Art Centre. If you do not have a studio space, you are welcomed to install works in the lounge area on the 3rd floor of Audain Art Centre, DSOM or BC Binning. If you are installing works outside of the 3rd floor studios in Audain, you will need approval from Kevin Murphy ([email protected]) and advise the committee before the 27th March, e-mail us at [email protected] specifying your name and location of installation.

Do I need to be present for the jurying process?
No, students are not allowed in the studios during jurying. Please have your works set up and leave the studio by 12p.m..

What do I need to have ready for the day?
- Students need to have all their proposed works (finished or unfinished*) set up, paintings/ prints hung, video works projected etc.

- Hardcopies of your proposals should be included in your installation (hardcopy forms will be available in the 3rd floor lounge area of Audain Art Centre and in room 107 in DSOM). Please remember to specify any equipment needs **

* Works should be as finished as possible, and work in progress, if considered not realisable or not well developed, will not be considered. Please keep in mind though you might have proposed 3 works, size of work is considered. So a student may have a large work accepted but maybe not three large works.

** An available AV equipment list can be found on our page. Installation ideas need to be realisable, students are responsible for installing their own work for the exhibition, technical assistance may not be available.

What if I have digital work?
- Any digital works should be saved on an external hard drive (flash drive or disc) in a format that can be read on a MAC computer. Students should then drop off their work in the envelope outside Phillip Mccrum’s office on the second floor of BC Binning., by 12p.m..

Students will be notified of selected work as soon as possible, and there may be conditions that have to be met before the work is officially accepted. These conditions will have specific deadlines, which will be strictly enforced. Schedule of installation and area of exhibition will be forthcoming. Students will be expected to participate in the installation process and must follow the specific guidelines of the exhibition committee.

If you have any questions about the jury process or the exhibition, please contact as at [email protected], or visit our Facbeook page at 2013/2014 BFA BA Visual Art Graduating Exhibition
