June 17 2026 will be Claren Academy’s last school day - forever. In 2017, two parents founded a progressive, joyful, excellent independent school with the goal of educating kind, competent leaders to solve problems and improve the world. It was ambitious, it was hard, and it worked! Until it didn’t. Changing demographics, real estate challenges, and economic shifts were too much pressure for our unique school and model, so we made the very hard decision to go out while we’re great. Thank you so much to every parent, friend, educator, and community member who supported us along the way, and gave us the confidence to keep innovating. Thank you to our current families and educators who have known for more than half the year, but showed up with joy, excellence, generosity, and love. Thank you most especially our hundreds of Claren Learners who have made sure that even though Claren is closing its doors, it was a huge success: they’re all out in the world, making it better, which was always the goal. One last Claren lesson: do hard things, ask friends for help, don’t be afraid to make mistakes, and aim high. Claren Academy, 2017 - 2026.
