A fun story fully written, illustrated, and read by 8-year-old Donald ❤️📖
Over the past semester, Donald has been working on this storybook little by little, turning an idea into a finished book he can proudly call his own.
From developing the story and creating the characters to illustrating the pages and practicing reading it aloud, every part of this project was built over time through his own creativity, effort, and imagination 😊
As the semester comes to an end, we wanted to take a moment to celebrate and showcase all of his hard work.
It’s always amazing to look back and see how a simple idea can grow into a completed storybook, and we’re incredibly proud of what Donald has created ✨
Take a moment to read along with his story!

Today’s art topic: Perspectives 🎨
Some snapshots from today’s lesson ✏️
Students explored how artists create space and depth through perspective, then applied the concept into their own drawings.
It’s always fun seeing the moment children realize:
“Wait… far away things actually look smaller.” ☀️

A little peek into our daily Chinese spelling practice ✨
One of the things we focus on in class is helping students build strong character recognition through consistent, structured practice.
Here’s Elendil working through a character fill-in-the-blank activity and proudly showing his completed work 😊
It might seem simple, but these small moments add up over time.
Character by character, word by word, children gradually build the foundations needed for reading, writing, and long-term Chinese literacy 📚

What does a Stop Motion group class actually look like? 🎬✨
Everyone is focused on their own project, moving characters frame by frame, adjusting tiny details, and bringing their ideas to life 😊
But somehow… there’s always room for a little silliness too 😂
One of our favourite things about group classes is watching kids stay deeply focused while still laughing, sharing ideas, and having fun together.

One of the biggest misconceptions about private school applications is that the process starts with the forms.
In reality, many of the most important decisions happen long before the application is submitted ✨
Questions like:
Is my child currently ready?
Which schools would actually be the right fit?
What strengths should we highlight?
What areas need more preparation?
How should we approach interviews and timelines?
These are often the parts families feel most uncertain about.
That’s why our private school application process begins with a 90-minute assessment 😊
The goal is not simply to “evaluate” a child, but to help families gain a clearer understanding of:
• Current readiness
• School fit and direction
• Areas of strength
• Areas for future preparation
• A realistic and personalized application strategy
From there, we support families through the full process, including:
• Application strategy
• Writing and application support
• Parent consultation
• Interview preparation
• Customized learning support
• Ongoing follow-up throughout the application journey
One thing we often tell families is that successful applications are rarely built through last-minute preparation alone.
More often, they come from having the right structure, planning, and support over time.
Our goal is to help families feel more informed, prepared, and confident throughout the process ✨

And yes… Nolan really created this whole story himself 📖✨
After watching him read it, you can probably feel how much this book meant to him 😊
This wasn’t just an activity he completed in class. It was a story he slowly built from his own imagination, one page at a time.
Nolan came up with the idea, created the characters, illustrated the pages, and worked through the story from beginning to end. By the time he was reading it out loud, it truly felt like his book.
One of the most special things about projects like this is seeing how differently children engage when they feel ownership over their work.
They begin caring about the little details.
They stay with the process longer.
They become excited to revise, add ideas, and share what they created with other people.
For many children, creating their own book makes reading and writing feel more meaningful because they are connected to the story in a personal way.
You can see the pride, confidence, and excitement in the way they talk about their work ✨
Storybook Makers is designed to help children develop creativity, storytelling, illustration, communication, and confidence through creating books that are completely their own.

Can children really learn Chinese with just 2.5 hours a week? ✨
It’s a question many parents ask, especially when their child is starting from zero Chinese.
The truth is, consistent and well-structured learning over time can lead to incredible progress.
We often think language learning has to mean doing more, studying every day, or spending long hours memorizing. But for young learners, what matters most is consistency, structure, repetition, and meaningful exposure over time.
This is what the learning path can look like with just 2.5 hours per week:
📚 Beginner Stage (Year 1):
Children build a strong foundation in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
They begin recognizing characters, understanding sentence structure, developing pronunciation, and gaining confidence using the language.
→ Approximately a Grade 2 level
📚 Intermediate Stage (Year 2):
Students expand vocabulary, strengthen comprehension, improve reading fluency, and begin expressing more complex ideas naturally.
→ Approximately a Grade 3–4 level
📚 Long-Term Path (3 Years):
Students develop full language ability across all four skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
→ Approximately a Grade 5 level in China
→ 2000+ Chinese characters learned
What makes the biggest difference is not intensity. It’s consistency.
When children are learning in a structured environment with clear progression, regular review, meaningful practice, and supportive teaching, small improvements each week begin adding up in a very big way 🌱
Over time, children begin understanding the logic of the language rather than simply memorizing it. They gain confidence, independence, and the ability to actually use Chinese in meaningful ways.
Sometimes parents underestimate what steady progress can look like over months and years. But language learning is a long-term journey, and consistency truly matters.

One thing we hear from parents all the time is:
“My child struggles to stay focused.”
“They start projects but don’t finish them.”
“They love screens, but it’s hard to get them interested in creating something themselves.”
That’s exactly why we built our Stop Motion Animation program 🎬
In this class, children do much more than just watch content. They become creators.
They build characters, design scenes, plan storyboards, move objects frame by frame, and slowly bring their own ideas to life through animation.
And something interesting happens during the process.
Because every movement matters, children naturally begin slowing down, paying attention to details, solving problems, and thinking ahead. They become invested in the outcome because the project belongs to them.
We often see students who normally lose focus become deeply engaged while filming scenes, adjusting tiny details, and working patiently to make their animation feel “just right.”
What makes stop motion special is that it combines creativity, storytelling, planning, patience, and hands-on learning all in one activity.
It turns screen time into creative time ✨
