Tiny hands, so soft and small ,
Grab and hold, with a loving call.
Fingers wiggle, palms unfold,
Little ones grasp, hearts of gold.

We draw a kite 🪁 on paper bright,
Add a string, and watch it take flight.
With wind beneath, it dances high,
Joy and laughter fill the sunny sky.
We run 🏃♂️ and 🏃♀️ , the string in hand,
Our kite 🪁 soaring, across the land.
The breeze lifts it, it twirls with glee,
A happy moment, wild and free.

Today, we explored the exciting topic of "The Great Race"! The children learned the names of the animals that participated in the race and discovered who took first, second, and third place.
Param prepared a captivating shadow story that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Their engagement was evident as some clapped during the storytelling, and others enthusiastically exclaimed, "It was a good story!" at the end.

During our nature walk on Thursday, Param joined us, both the children and adults were immersed in observing the seasonal changes, with Param guiding the exploration. This outdoor experience exemplified how nature serves as an invaluable teacher, where the children learned about the environment firsthand, enhancing their observational skills and fostering a sense of wonder.
Circle time in the natural setting further enriched the day's experiences. It provided a tranquil space for the children to gather, reflect, and engage in storytelling. Param's story time, featuring tales of cooperation and friendship among two birds, a turtle, and a squirrel named after the children, highlighted the themes of community and support. This activity underscored the importance of outdoor learning environments in nurturing creativity and a deep connection with the world around us. Children also worked together to build houses for the squirrel, turtle and the birds. Through such immersive experiences, the children not only learned about nature but also developed social skills and emotional intelligence, making the day's pedagogy deeply impactful.

*After Last Week's Strong Winds...
The children witnessed the aftermath of the fierce gusts: fallen trees blocked the path, and leaves carpeted the roads. Amidst the change, they felt a pang of sadness seeing their beloved trees toppled.
Allen and Penny showed compassion, approaching a broken tree to ask, "Are you hurt?" and "Are you okay?" Their empathy for nature's giants was heartwarming.
Meanwhile, some children took initiative to clear the way, carefully picking up small twigs and sticks to ensure their friends and walkers wouldn't trip.
Witnessing these kind acts, the educator's heart swelled with pride, seeing many little hearts blooming with compassion and kindness.

~Happy Diwali! 🪔~
Today, our children embraced the vibrant spirit of Diwali, engaging in activities that celebrate cultural diversity and inclusion. According to the BC Early Learning Framework, fostering such experiences is crucial for developing empathy and understanding among young learners. By lighting diyas, enjoying sparklers, savoring traditional sweets, and wearing colorful attire, children not only learn about Indian culture but also appreciate the beauty of diverse traditions. These activities align with the framework’s vision of creating inclusive spaces where all children feel valued and respected, promoting a sense of belonging and social responsibility.
