This year the Alum Association is switching to a delicious brunch followed by an informative and engaging panel discussion about boardrooms - how to get onto a board and what happens after that. Dr. Gillian Kydd, Class of 1963 was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada at the end of 2025 and was invested into the Order of Canada at a special ceremony at Rideau Hall today in Ottawa.

Educator Dr. Gillian Kydd has reshaped how children learn and how teachers think about learning. She is the co-founder of the Open Minds/Beyond the Classroom Network, which takes teachers and students out of the classroom and into the community for week-long, hands-on experiences. Her innovative approach has inspired and engaged educators and thousands of participants, fostering curiosity and lifelong learning across Canada.

Bilingual Cartoons: One Mum's Mission to Make Chinese Culture Come Alive this CNY | theAsianparent Singapore Jen Loong-Goodwin found herself searching for a simple, engaging way to explain to her toddler why families gather on the longest evening of the year.

Every year, we invite our alum community to help us recognize the many ways York House graduates are making a difference in the world through the YHS Alum Special Achiever Award.

Achievement looks different for everyone. Nominees may be leaders in their field, changemakers in their communities, creative trailblazers or individuals whose personal journey reflects our motto: Not For Ourselves Alone. We welcome nominations that reflect the full diversity of our alum community and the many paths our graduates take.
