We study how ecological communities work, how they change, and what that means for humans.

We study the influence of the abiotic environment on the dynamics of ecological communities. We use experiments and models to relate environmental conditions to the the structure and function of ecosystems. In particular, our work seeks to understand the ecological impacts of climate change and habitat modification, and to explore how conservation efforts might be most effective given natural envi
