Our first week back at the academy also saw us celebrate 10 years of FDT ❤️💙
What started as a commitment to helping young people find their voice has grown into a community of students, families, coaches and alumni competing – and winning – at the highest levels of debate and public speaking.
Over the past decade, FDT students have earned countless regional, provincial, national and international titles, with more than 55 students reaching national-level competition and representing Canada on national debate and speech teams.
Today, 6 current members of Team Canada are FDT students — half of the entire team!
And this year, we reached one of our proudest milestones yet: Canada became World Debate Champions, with longtime FDT students competing on the championship team and FDT coaches helping lead Canada to the title.
But our biggest achievement will always be the thousands of speeches, debates, friendships, breakthroughs and moments of confidence that happened along the way.
To every student, parent, instructor, coach and supporter who has been part of these 10 years: thank you 🫶🏼
