Lest We Forget
“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.”
—John McCrae, Canadian poet, doctor and medical officer during WWI

An update on our efforts in Afghanistan:
Thanks to the incredible support of donors and the collective efforts of our partners, we have supported the evacuation of ~1,260 Afghan interpreters, locally employed civilians, and their families as of August 31st. The rapidity and generosity of donors across Canada and around the world saved lives during the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan.
At this time, 2000+ men, women, and children remain in our safe houses in Afghanistan. The risk to Afghan families who supported the Canadian government is still high, and every day we receive reports of threats, violence, and killings across Afghanistan.
The VTN continues to accept donations to secure their safety. Our focus now is to continue sheltering the families under our care, and work with them and the Canadian government to secure visas for as many as we can. We are continually researching and developing options for evacuation in coordination with the Canadian government. With each passing day, evacuation becomes more viable.
Thank you to all who have joined our coalition through your contributions, advocacy and sharing our work to help save the lives of our allies and their families.
