Team BC continued their engagements with the federal government in Ottawa.
The team had a productive meeting with Ellis Ross, MP Skeena-Bulkley Valley, discussing key issues facing British Columbians, Northern BC, and the mining sector overall.
The conversation centred around strengthening Canada’s economy through a competitive and growing mining industry.

Team BC in Ottawa to advance partnership on $79 Billion in critical minerals and mining development.
Today, a delegation from MABC, including members from Teck, Taseko, Centerra Gold, Seabridge Gold Inc., FPX Nickel Corp. and Elk Valley Resources Glencore Canada joined Jagrup Brar, Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals in Ottawa as part of a ‘Team BC’ effort to advance major mining projects and strengthen Canada’s economic and national security.
British Columbia is uniquely positioned to lead:
🔹 19 of Canada’s 34 critical minerals are found or produced in BC
🔹 31 major projects in development,(~$79B in potential economic activity)
🔹 Canada’s leading producer of copper and steelmaking coal
Recent project approvals show progress—but faster, more coordinated permitting between federal and provincial governments will be key to maintaining momentum and attracting global investment.
A strong, coordinated approach between governments is essential if Canada is going to fully unlock the potential of critical minerals.
