The GRE is getting an update.

Starting September 22, 2023, the GRE will be shorter and more approachable. However, the content is staying largely the same. There aren’t any new topics or question types being introduced, and the time allotted per question is also staying the same.

So, if you started studying for the old version of the test, you won’t be left high and dry. Your current work will still apply to the new test.

Although the changes are designed to make the more equitable and a more accurate measure of student success, the fact of the matter is that preparation is just as important for the as it was for the old exam.

Our top study tips for the new test are:

2) You can use the calculator on the entire math section - learn to make the most of the tool.

3) Become comfortable reading short, but advanced college-level passages on a variety of topics.

With deadlines fast approaching, now is the time to make sure that you have everything in order.
................................

1. Not all schools have the same RD deadline. Take note of what yours are for each school on your list.

2. Check for any supplemental essays. If schools on your list are still offering interviews, make sure schedule one.

3. Re-confirm with your recommenders. Keep them apprised of all deadlines.

4. No need to overhaul. Just be sure there are no grammar mistakes and take the time to fine-tune the narrative.

5. Do your research on the schools and use all relevant supplementary opportunities available to showcase your work, such as portfolios or research.
