A PLANETARY congratulations to the team at Celestial Laboratories from the University of Regina for coming first place in our recent Project Airlock Competition (Phase II)! The judges were all highly impressed with the work Celestial Laboratories was able to do, pandemic or not. We are so excited to see what's next for them.

A major congratulations as well to WatLock of the University of Waterloo for coming in second place as well as earning the title of most improved. Both teams put an incredible effort towards this competition despite these unprecedented challenges. We are so proud of these teams for sticking with it and accomplishing all that they have!

The Project Airlock Phase II Competition is happening tomorrow! The event will happen online from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm (pacific). Join as two teams showcase their efforts to create a full scale function airlock for use on Mars!

Despite all odds - Project Airlock Competition Phase II is finally here!!! Less than a week away. Join us for a day of engineering magic as teams from the University of Regina and the University of Waterloo present their very own functional airlocks designed for use on Mars. RSVP now at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/project-airlock-phase-ii-ubc-mars-competition-tickets-166595885779 to gain access to the Zoom link where the event will happen. The event starts at 10:00 AM PDT sharp with opening ceremonies. This is followed by the team presentations, a mid-session break, and then awards and closing ceremonies wrapping up the competition at 3:00 PM PDT.

We're back in the teamspace! With strict COVID safety protocols we have started diving back into physical prototyping. Pictured here are Garnet and A***n constructing a custom acrylic vacuum chamber for Project FARM (Feeding All Resident Martians). The chamber will be used to study the growth of plants at pressures below atmospheric levels, swipe to see a virtual model of the finished product!
