🌟Meet Our Chair!🌟

Hello! I'm Vib, and I'm honored to be serving as the 2021 SLC Chair. I'm a 4th year Arts student pursuing a double major in Economics and Political Science. This is the 4th SLC that I'll be attending, and the 3rd that I'll be on the Planning Team for.

⚪What does connectivity mean to you? 🔵

Connecting and working collaboratively with our peers is often such an effective strategy to resolving issues through innovating solutions and productive discussion. This year, particularly, as we've seen many social issues come to the forefront of our communities, the upcoming SLC presents an incredible opportunity for student leaders to connect and have honest and respectful conversations on how they can be role models in the UBC community on working towards solutions for these issues.

Stay tuned to find which issues our streams will seek to highlight!

🎊Our Visual Identity for SLC 2021!🎊

As we approach January, we wanted to share a little more about the upcoming SLC’s Visual Identity with you.

With this year's SLC being held virtually, we wanted to highlight the importance of connectivity in our communities and during the conference . The conference will explore many important topics within both local and global spaces, and provide opportunities for delegates to connect and engage in meaningful discussion. Inspired by the word "connectivity", we wanted our visual design to capture that idea through something as simple as a collection of individual dots strung together with lines. Thus, our SLC 2021 Visual Identity was created.

Stay tuned for more information on how this year's SLC will look like as well as topics to be discussed!

“The organization was established in 2006 to provide the much needed yet unfulfilled demand for representation and community for everyone affected by cancer at UBC. In spite of its high prevalence, conversations around cancer and cancer prevention are rare on-campus.”

In picture: 2020 Faces of Today Award Recipient, Enav Zusman.

“Wanting new residents to feel welcome and equal in the community led Enav to organize a mentoring program and resource fairs where new residents can meet friends and learn about resources that are available for them on campus. Enav supervised the advocacy office of the GSS, where they received several concerns about sexual misconduct on campus. They therefore took initiative and organized a one-day conference to raise awareness of sexual assault and harassment on campus, while clarifying the resources available to students in need of support. The conference was well attended by students from all disciplines and backgrounds.”
