ADJACENT: AN ART SHOW

ADJACENT explores what happens outside the lines, between cultures, disciplines, identities, communities and traditional creative spaces.

Different artists. Different perspectives. Different ways of exploring the spaces in between.

We’re also planning an artist conversation to dig a little deeper into some of the ideas behind the show (more on that soon).

The exhibit runs November 14–29, including during the Eastside Culture Crawl weekend. So if you’re out exploring art in the neighbourhood, wander a little further and come see us. We’re just a couple of blocks outside the official Crawl boundary. You could say we’re... adjacent.

What if we looked at flowers a little differently?

Forget the perfect bouquet. We’re making something a little more experimental.

Join us for Floral Creatures, a hands-on floral sculpture workshop led by Abby Liwag of Bubuka, where we’ll explore flowers through art, movement, texture and imagination.

You’ll learn a few floral techniques, then break away from the usual rules to create something completely your own.

Come make something weird & wonderful.

FREE WORKSHOPS: VANCOUVER WRITERS + ACTORS 🎬

We’ve got a pretty special weekend happening at VS.

We’re opening up the studio for two FREE workshops with Mark Joseph C. Labella Creator, Showrunner + Director of NURSE THE DEAD SERIES for anyone who’s been curious about writing for TV, acting for camera, or just wants to learn more about how it all comes together.

We invite BIPOC creatives interested in film + television to join us. Come learn, ask questions, try things out and meet some other local creatives along the way.

INTRO TO TELEVISION WRITING + STORY DEVELOPMENT

Award-winning Filipino-Canadian comedian Keith Pedro is back in Vancouver, and this time he’s bringing some very funny friends with him.

Joining Keith on November 22 at The Cultch Theatre are Bay Area comedian B**g Robbie (B**gRobbie) and Vancouver comedian and actor Tina Pham (Tina Pham)

KEITH PEDRO
Award-winning Filipino-Canadian comedian, Toronto’s own and no stranger to Vancouver. You may have seen Keith on Kevin Hart’s LOL Network, Just For Laughs, CBC or Comedy Central. Expect sharp storytelling, big energy and plenty to say about family, culture and everyday life.

B**G ROBBIE
HELLO, HELLO. Bay Area comedian and content creator Dennis Barcelon, aka B**gRobbie, has built a following with his relatable takes on Filipino culture, family and all those little things you grew up thinking were completely normal. He’s also the creator and star of Hello Hello.

TINA PHAM
Vancouver comedian, actor and former competitive MMA fighter Tina Pham brings sharp, personal storytelling about family, relationships and everyday life. You may have also spotted her in Avatar: The Last Airbender, Lucifer, Invasion and Supernatural.

Today would have been Oli’s 50th birthday.

To mark his 50th, we’re hoping to raise $5,000 for cancer research at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, supporting the doctor and team working to find life-changing treatments for Oli’s type of lymphoma.

If we hit our goal, we’ll have raised $25,000 in Oli’s honour over the past three years.

Let’s carry on Oli’s legacy of helping others and get to $5K for his 50th.
