Congratulations to our Grade 10s who completed their MYP Personal Projects last week.
As the culmination of their learning and skills in the Middle Years Programme (Grade 6–10), students create their own learning goal and product around a topic of their choosing, with support from a teacher supervisor. This open-ended task had students exploring a wide range of personal interests including fashion design, business proposals, crafting skills and physics analyses, just to name a few.
We're in awe of the products the students came up with, and so proud of their hard work and commitment to the Personal Project. Stay tuned for this week's Eagle Update to learn more about some of the specific projects the students created.
Way to go Grade 10s!

The Junior School enjoyed a toe-tapping performance from Krystle Dos Santos and her eight-piece band as they performed a selection of songs from their fantastic show, "The History of Motown."
The show delivered the nostalgia of the beloved genre of 1960-80s Detroit Soul music, with the stories and historical context of the world in which they were created. Students were also invited to get up and dance, and the students loved having the opportunity to move to the music.
Thank you Krystle and her group for such an engaging performance.

We're bouncing with excitement for our students to return next week from Spring Break.
In the meantime, enjoy this throwback to the Junior School Dance Showcase. Students in Grades 1 to 5 showed off the moves they had been learning in PHE last term. There was a mix of jazz, hip hop and even musical theatre, and lots of parents to cheer them on!
Let's start this next term off with the same energy. See you on March 30, SJS!

On March 13, SJS hosted our annual Grandparents Day. The school was filled with visiting grandparents, whose grandchildren guided them around their classrooms and showed off their latest projects.
After their tour, grandparents were invited into the Gunn Gym, which had been beautifully decorated for a morning tea by our parent volunteers. There was also a photo booth for grandparents to capture the memory and take home a special souvenir.
Our grandparents were then treated to a concert with each grade in the Junior School performing various musical and vocal sets, as well as the talents of our Junior Choir, Music 8, Strings and the Intermediate and Senior Choirs.
Thank you to all grandparents for joining us. It's always a pleasure to celebrate you as a treasured and valued part of our community.
And a special thank you to the staff, faculty, students and parent volunteers who made this memorable morning possible.

Throwback to the Junior School ice skating adventures! Before the Spring Break the Grade 3, 4 and 5s all had their turn on the ice as part of their PHE curriculum. We even had some parents and family join in the fun as well.
We hope you're having a great Spring Break, SJS! Whether you're on an adventure or relaxing at home, we hope you're making wonderful memories to share with us when you return.

Congratulations to the Senior Boys Basketball team for their outstanding run at 1A Provincials this weekend. After four hard-fought games back-to-back, the boys came home with the silver medal.
The sportsmanship and respect that our team demonstrated throughout the entire tournament speaks volumes. Across the weekend other coaches and spectators regularly commented on how well our athletes carried themselves. We're so proud of our boys and how well they represented SJS on the provincial stage.
Go Eagles!

Congratulations to our Grade 8 Bantam Boys Basketball team for bringing home the GVISSA banner 🙌
The boys blazed through the playoffs with a quarter-final victory over École des Pionniers-de-Maillardville Lynx (pictured), a semi final win against King David Secondary, and finally the topple of Stratford Hall to take the gold 54–42.
Well done team! The future of SJS basketball is looking bright.

Welcome to Forest Fridays, a very special day when our Kindergarteners venture out into the forest for some hands-on inquiry. We love seeing their curiosity at work as they use their growing science skills and senses to explore nature, enjoy some outside play, and get a little dirty along the way.
Rain or shine, nothing can stop these young learners!

Our wonderful Parent Association Executive and a group of parent volunteers transformed the Atrium into a winter cafe to treat our Senior School students to hot chocolate with all the fixings during their lunch break. Thank you to all the parents who made this Thursday a little extra sweet for our students.
