A collaborative project with our Canada-Indo-Pacific Critical Minerals Hub, the series examines Canada’s strategy, how the strategy should evolve to meet the moment, and partnership opportunities with Indo-Pacific partners.

La mission se déroulera à Singapour, parallèlement à la Conférence Canada-en-Asie ( ) et au forum d’investisseurs sur invitation de CanWIN. La délégation se rendra ensuite à Taïwan, où CanWIN organisera la quatrième édition du Sommet mondial CanWIN 2027 ( ), qui se tiendra pour la première fois en Asie.

APF Canada’s Canadian Women’s International Network ( ) is pleased to announce that applications for our upcoming Canadian Women-only Business Mission to and are now open!

This mission is part of APF Canada’s Women’s Business Mission to Asia Series, showcasing Canadian women entrepreneurs advancing sustainable and resilient solutions across agrifood, clean tech, defence, energy, health tech, and information and communication technologies.

Beginning in Singapore, the mission will coincide with the Canada-in-Asia Conference ( ) and CanWIN's invite-only investor forum. The group will then travel to Taiwan for the fourth annual CanWIN Global Summit ( ) - the first to be hosted in Asia.

The Canadian Women-only Business Mission to Singapore and Taiwan is generously supported by contributions from the Government of Canada through the Women Entrepreneurship Strategy (WES) Ecosystem Fund and our Official Airline Partner, Air Canada.

Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until September 30, 2026, (11:59 pm ET) or until delegation spots are filled. Applicants are strongly advised to submit applications as soon as possible.

LAST CALL: We are inviting proposals for a multi-country Indo-Pacific survey on how Canada is evaluated in real-world business and trade contexts.

The project will also aim to identify the key factors influencing Canada's competitiveness relative to other trading partners.

Key Research Questions
1. To what extent do positive perceptions of Canada translate into actual business engagement and trade relationships, greenfield investments, and/or acquisitions?
2. What factors influence the selection of international partners and suppliers?
3. In which contexts is Canada considered a viable partner, and where is it not?
4. How does Canada compare to other countries in commercial decision-making?
5. What barriers or challenges affect engagement with Canada?

Qualified consultants or research firms are invited to design and submit a proposal for this project, including methodology, recommended sample size, structure, a framework for longitudinal tracking, and more.

Canadian MP Chak Au 區澤光 - Member of Parliament for Richmond Centre-Marpole joined us in for APF Canada's co-hosted Economic Resilience and CPTPP-EU Linkages Vietnam-Canada Forum last month to discuss Canada-Vietnam trade relationships.

He told Sing Tao Daily 美西版 that "non-tariff barriers... are the issues that businesses are most concerned about right now, and they are also the key factors affecting whether free trade agreements can truly play their role."

APF Canada's Asia Regional Director Barrett Bingley also noted that "Canada is more familiar with the operation of [the and the trade frameworks]...than other countries, so it can promote the exchange of practical experience among members on high-standard trade agreements."

"Myanmar’s Evolving Crisis and Its Regional Implications: Insights from the CSCAP Study Group"

In this fifth paper for Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific's ( ) annual publication, Chaipumee analyzes the evolving crisis in Myanmar in the fifth paper and its broader implications for regional security and ASEAN cohesion.

The situation in Myanmar extends beyond a domestic political impasse and carries wider implications for regional stability that require sustained and structured dialogue. The crisis is challenging ASEAN’s approach to human rights and revealing deep structural grievances within the country that continue to elude resolution.

"One of the key conclusions of the Study Group is that Myanmar’s crisis has evolved into a multidimensional challenge for regional security and ASEAN cohesion, reflecting both the scale of internal conflict in Myanmar and its expanding cross-border implications."

APF Canada is pleased to announce the launch of its annual Media Fellowship Program for 2026-27.

The program offers up-and-coming and established journalists the opportunity to spend time in Asia researching and preparing stories for a Canadian audience.

Two 2026-2027 APF Canada Media Fellows will receive up to C$10,000 each for travel, accommodation, and in-country expenses.

The Media Fellowship program is open to any journalist who is a citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada and employed by a Canadian magazine, newspaper, news service, or other.

The application deadline is August 31, 2026 (11:59 p.m. PT).
