This year we were super grateful for the support of in establishing the HR MacMillan Space Centre Science Communication Award for best science communication, which includes an exclusive prize package of a telescope designed to encourage continued exploration of the night sky 🔭✨
Congratulations to Liam Ko from Mulgrave School for receiving this award, for his project titled “Aerodynamic Lift, Need for Speed”. He explored the world of aerodynamics to see how this force can be manipulated. By building a wind tunnel, he tested the effects of wind speed on different wing designs. He was able to change the wind speeds to see the amount of load that a small segment of a wing could carry, adding a smoke mechanism to visualize how the air flows over the wing.
