Umbrella lessons ☂️ We agreed before heading out: if you bring it, you carry it. On the way home it stopped raining 🌧️ and they tried to hand them off 😅 — but after I held the boundary, they came up with their own hacks to carrying a closed umbrella. Watching them problem-solve and step into independence was huge!

Throwback to set life 🎬 One of my most unique nanny experiences was working with families on set — keeping kids engaged with fidgets, activities, and plenty of silly chats (“Top three chip flavours, go!”). With my Motion Picture Industry Orientation certificate, I loved blending two passions — childcare and film 🎥 — in such a fun and different environment!

Pizza day! 🍕 We used naan rounds (so easy!) and all the toppings — just like in the Peppa book. While we were washing hands, one kid ran over to peek and came back yelling, “You have all the toppings from the book — it’s all there!!” 💫

One went all in with every topping, the other was adamantly minimalist — just sauce, no cheese (despite my gentle encouragement). When the pizza came out, one of the kids looked at theirs puzzled: “Wait… where’s the cheese?” 😅 We had a quick chat about food regrets, melted some on in the microwave, and talked about how food mix-ups happen to everyone!

Late Easter post, but too cute not to share 🐰 🫣 From colouring eggs to a full-on Easter egg hunt Easter— they officially entered big kid Easter territory with M&Ms 🍫, mini toys, and stickers in the eggs🥚(pro tip if you don’t want to go full sugar). I probably could’ve done the hunt earlier, but watching them get it this time — like taking turns and only grabbing one each 😅 — made it extra fun!

Okay hear me out — if your kid isn’t into getting soaked at the splash pad, shallow streams at the beach and lazy rivers at the park might be where it’s at! I know these two well and big sprays 💦 and soaking splashes aren’t their thing (at least not yet!). But give them scoops, shallow water, and a few pylons (we love a pylon 😄), and they’re in their element. We still try new things when they’re ready — but we always start where they feel good.

Hi meow meow! 😸👋🏽 We love meeting kitty friends around the neighbourhood! 🐾 Whether it’s a quick “hi” or a surprise lap sit, every interaction is a chance to practice gentleness, respect, and reading body language — even when the cat says “no thanks.” Learning how to listen goes beyond people! ❤️

Birthday buddies! 🧁🎉 Our birthdays were just days apart, love this throwback to when his mom surprised us with cupcakes — and we sang happy birthday to each other! Spending time with him was always a blast (he knew way more car names 🚗 than I ever will 😆 ). So many laughs and sweet memories!

RICE 🍚— one of my go-to sensory activities for little ones! It gives them the chance to practice scooping and transferring without needing a full trip to the sandpit. It’s great for coordination, and keeps their hands busy! Yes, rice ends up everywhere 🙃… but I remind myself: messes can be cleaned! 😮‍💨

June 25 = halfway to Christmas! 🎄 Throwback to a festive day at Mount Pleasant Neighborhood House — santa 🎅🏻, crafts, treats, music, and a magic show the kids loved.

A timeless classic — sometimes the best toys aren’t toys at all! 🥁🥄 Pots and spoons support coordination, cause and effect, and sensory exploration. Not to mention… they’re shiny✨ The look on their face when they get to play with something from the locked cupboard? Priceless. 🔐👶
