She already loves splattering water on the pavement to "paint," so when I told her you could do it with actual paint 🎨 too, it was an immediate "omg we gotta" 😂 (extra special because it was just us, baby sister was napping!)

I had a whole splatter technique planned and she took one look, decided flicking wasn't it, and just started throwing the brush at the paper instead. Worked way better than my idea!

Most important rule of art: there are no rules.

We’ve been practicing open cup drinking, and I’m genuinely such a believer in this skill. It looks impossible at first, like why am I signing up for soup-tray consequences 😂 but with a little water at a time and a lot of practice, they get the aim down, then the tip, and suddenly it’s cheers to the small victories! 🏅

Bonus: cheersing also works great with food, sends every bit down the hatch! A great redirection trick on days when sitting still for a meal isn’t happening.

Someone has been practicing her big sissy skills! 🥹 I’ve cared for the oldest since she was 8 months old and now she’s 4! She’s constantly finding thoughtful ways to help, like cheering her sis up when she’s fussy, “helping” with feeding, even keeping watch when the youngest gets a little too curious about the cat 😅

(Also — she and I have a running joke that when something’s this cute, we’ve officially been “cuteness blasted” and need our protective goggles 🥽. This photo definitely qualifies!😍)

Umbrella lessons ☂️ We agreed before heading out: if you bring it, you carry it. On the way home it stopped raining 🌧️ and they tried to hand them off 😅 — but after I held the boundary, they came up with their own hacks to carrying a closed umbrella. Watching them problem-solve and step into independence was huge!

Throwback to set life 🎬 One of my most unique nanny experiences was working with families on set — keeping kids engaged with fidgets, activities, and plenty of silly chats (“Top three chip flavours, go!”). With my Motion Picture Industry Orientation certificate, I loved blending two passions — childcare and film 🎥 — in such a fun and different environment!

Pizza day! 🍕 We used naan rounds (so easy!) and all the toppings — just like in the Peppa book. While we were washing hands, one kid ran over to peek and came back yelling, “You have all the toppings from the book — it’s all there!!” 💫

One went all in with every topping, the other was adamantly minimalist — just sauce, no cheese (despite my gentle encouragement). When the pizza came out, one of the kids looked at theirs puzzled: “Wait… where’s the cheese?” 😅 We had a quick chat about food regrets, melted some on in the microwave, and talked about how food mix-ups happen to everyone!

Late Easter post, but too cute not to share 🐰 🫣 From colouring eggs to a full-on Easter egg hunt Easter— they officially entered big kid Easter territory with M&Ms 🍫, mini toys, and stickers in the eggs🥚(pro tip if you don’t want to go full sugar). I probably could’ve done the hunt earlier, but watching them get it this time — like taking turns and only grabbing one each 😅 — made it extra fun!

Okay hear me out — if your kid isn’t into getting soaked at the splash pad, shallow streams at the beach and lazy rivers at the park might be where it’s at! I know these two well and big sprays 💦 and soaking splashes aren’t their thing (at least not yet!). But give them scoops, shallow water, and a few pylons (we love a pylon 😄), and they’re in their element. We still try new things when they’re ready — but we always start where they feel good.

Hi meow meow! 😸👋🏽 We love meeting kitty friends around the neighbourhood! 🐾 Whether it’s a quick “hi” or a surprise lap sit, every interaction is a chance to practice gentleness, respect, and reading body language — even when the cat says “no thanks.” Learning how to listen goes beyond people! ❤️
