We’ll be pouring lots of fun stuff, including a special white wine from Bio Weingut Zahel in Austria that Jenna Briscoe assisted in importing via Boutique Wines (📸 light green bottle, bottom right)!

🍇 About the Gemischter Satz wine: it contains at least three different grape varieties, but they all come from the same vineyard. Not only were they planted next to each other, but they are also harvested and fermented together. The result is a wine that combines the advantages of the different grape varieties!

Recap of Oregon Pinot Camp! 🍷🏕️

It may seem counterintuitive, but there are few better ways to learn about the nuance and diversity of a region than through the lens of a single grape variety. I tasted A LOT of Pinot, some mind-blowing Chard, and a few fantastic Iberian varieties popping up all over the state.
Oregon is a young wine region with a true wine industry emerging only in the late 1960’s. In 1983 the Willamette Valley AVA came to be, signalling the start of thoughtful and intentional viticulture from the state of Oregon. In 2002, petitions for six new nested AVAs were submitted all at the same time - no one was first and no one was last. Everyone was doing it together. The reason this is notable, is 25 years later, I was experiencing that same spirit. A celebration of farmers, growers, soil stewards and most importantly community. Kudos Oregon Pinot Camp for reminding us that wine is not only about what’s in the glass, but the people we share it with.
