With our final shows of the season complete, the group goes on summer hiatus. The horns won’t be put out to pasture like these, however, as all our members play in multiple ensembles.
Work is already underway on repertoire for the fall. Gershwin, Raksin, Sparkes and Holst are on the arrangers table.
If you’re a brass player in search of opportunities to play challenging repertoire with other fine musicians, consider spending a few hours every Wednesday with us starting in September.

An annual event for the band I conduct. A great excuse for a road trip to Tsawwassen on a sunny Saturday.
Our Spring concert season kicks off on May 30th. Hope you can join us!

As the group approaches the end of another great year, we embark on a series of performances at seniors’ homes. This has nothing to do with Jake and Elwood, but we knew the photo would get your attention 😉

There’s always a place for “faulty saxophone” players in the MPBE! If you’re interested in playing in a large brass ensemble, drop us a note to see about joining the gang on a Wednesday.

Rehearsal have been going well since the group fired up in January. The gang is digging in to some Grainger, Shostakovich, Gershwin and the ever popular “anonymous”.

If you’re an aspiring conductor or educator, consider attending the Saito Conducting Workshop in Saskatoon. Wayne Toews is a brilliant teacher who studied in Japan with Saito’s protege, Morihito Okabe, and wrote the English version of the text.
This workshop is ALL about conducting. Participants get several hours of podium time every day with instruction from Wayne or another member of his team. The week ends with a recital during which every member conducts a string orchestra.
