The past two weeks at school have been filled with meaningful, hands-on learning. Students explored the natural world by measuring ocean tides, they brought their understanding to life by creating detailed dioramas and models, they practiced independence and creativity by making their own modeling clay, and they deepened their learning through purposeful work with Montessori materials and guided science experiments. Beyond academics, our students demonstrated responsibility and collaboration by planning and organizing a student-led fundraiser to support their overnight trip later this year—applying real-world skills like problem-solving, communication, and teamwork. We’re so proud of the curiosity, independence, and confidence our students show every day!
Over the last two weeks, our classroom has been alive with purposeful Montessori work—practicing for the talent show, engaging in open-ended art, exploring hands-on experiments, and creating beautiful projects in a craft workshop hosted by our wonderful PSG. We love watching each child follow their interests, build confidence, and express their unique strengths through meaningful, self-directed experiences.
Maria Montessori believed that the child is the builder of peace and we recommit to seeing this vision through our work with the children in our community.
Enrichments during the first half of November include our outing to the Capilano Salmon Hatchery, a Remembrance Day guest speaker from the Memory Projects, and the beginning of our Winter Performance rehearsals. LGMS is privileged to have abundant community resources within reach to enrich our students’ multifaceted development.

October was filled with joyful learning beyond the classroom. Our students experienced the energy of VSO’s Wall to Wall Percussion, explored the seasonal beauty of the pumpkin patch at Westham Island Herb Farm, and immersed themselves in storytelling and imagination at the Vancouver Writers Fest.
Each outing offered a different window into the world—music and rhythm, nature and harvest, language and creativity—supporting the holistic development we value at LGMS. These shared experiences strengthen curiosity, build confidence, and nurture a sense of wonder that children carry back into their daily work.
