Standardized Patients | Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia 02/19/2014

Hello fellow AISES members!

This opportunity has come to my attention and is a great way to make some money. I have copied the information I was given below!

-------

I work for the Standardized Patient Program at UBC’s Faculty of Medicine. We train people to portray patients for medical students in tutorials and exams. Currently, we’re seeking Aboriginal women aged 17-27 to portray a case for an upcoming teaching project.

The work is fun, challenging, and an enormous asset to medical education. For more information about us, please visit our website: http://med.ubc.ca/about/careers/standardized-patient-program/

The project I’m recruiting for takes place on Thursday, April 17 from 9:00-4:00 on UBC campus (time is approximate and will be confirmed soon). Trainings take place at the Gordon & Leslie Diamond Centre, located at 2775 Laurel St. You will need to attend two training sessions (two hours long each time) before the project day. The rate of pay for this project is $25/hour.

The tentative training dates are as follows:

Training 1: Thursday, April 3 from 2:00-4:00
Training 2: Monday, April 14 from 2:00-4:00 OR Tuesday, April 15 from 9:00-11:00

If you can commit to the project, please get in touch with me by February 20 at [email protected]. I’m happy to answer any questions you may have about standardized patient work or this project in particular.

I hope to hear from you soon,

Hello everyone. I have some very sad news to share, a wonderful and very loved AISES member, Bree Edgar, passed away suddenly on December 1st. Bree was a great friend to many members of UBC AISES, as well as a valued Mentee in the National mentorship program. She will be dearly missed by everyone in the AISES family. Please contact Alison Cuffley for memorial service information if you would like to attend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and close friends during this tragic time.
