The 2022 Middle East & Islamic Consortium (MEICON-BC) Student Conference will be held on Saturday, March 26th, 2022 at Allard Hall, UBC!! Organized by UBC Middle East Studies and the Middle East Studies Student Association, the conference includes:
- A keynote lecture by Dr. Elif Sarı (U Toronto / UBC) titled, "Racial/Sexual Politics of Asylum: The Specter of Alan Kurdi, Homophobia, Islam & Deservingness"
- Nine panels and over 30 presentations by graduate and undergraduate students from UBC, SFU, UVic and beyond (program: https://mes.arts.ubc.ca/2022-meicon-bc-student-conference/conference-program-and-schedule/)

Calling for Submissions!
• Any current UBC undergraduate can submit a research paper to Logos.
• Authors do not need to major or minor in CNERS, and papers do not have to be written for CNERS classes, provided that their content is relevant.
• The deadline for all Submissions is March 13th at 11:59pm.
• Submissions should be sent to [email protected].
• Each paper must have an abstract between 150 and 300 words in length.
• Papers must be a minimum of 1,500 words in length (maximum of 5,000 words).
