May is - a time to recognize the vital contributions of physiotherapists to our communities in British Columbia and beyond.
The Physio Refresh program continues to support internationally educated physiotherapists on their journey to Canadian practice. This year, weโre excited to have launched a new 100% virtual Physio Refresh program format, designed to better align with changes in the credentialing process and updated CPTE exam structure, and to be more inclusive and accessible for participants, many of whom are participating from outside of BC.
Between 2020 and 2025, Physio Refresh supported over 300 participants in the program. Of those who consented to share their exam results, 70% passed the Written Component, and 83% passed the Practical Component. We are confident that our new virtual program format will continue to support participants to be successful on the CPTE and in their transition practice in Canada.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Q: Now that the program is 100% online, what reimbursement options do we have?
A: We are happy to announce that participants in the Physio Refresh program can still receive reimbursement from the Internationally Allied Bursary Program!
A bursary of up to $14,812 CAD is available to assist internationally educated physiotherapists (IEPTs) with the costs associated with becoming licensed to work in BC.
HMBC, in partnership with the BC Ministry of Health (MoH), supports eligible IEPTs who want to work in BC by offering financial support to help pay for costs associated with credential assessment, English language proficiency testing, and exam preparation.
How can you receive this bursary with Physio Refresh?
Participants are eligible for reimbursement with proof of payment and course completion letter.
