If you don't see the book you want on the shelf, write it.
- Beverly Cleary

I have many picture books floating around inside my head on any given day... I would love to see a children's book on the shelf about the Newfoundland community of Gander who supported the hundreds of diverted passengers on 9-11. Such a great story.

Well, teacher friends... what will your book be about?

Having some major breakthroughs at the BCPVPA Offshore series as it relates to the core competencies, how they fit in the bigger picture, and how they can be assessed and reported throughout the year.

This book is amazing! Hearing explain it in context is 100x even better! Showing us how to extend & transform Ss thinking in incredibly practical ways. Critical thinking + SEL = powerful understanding in the context of self, others and the world. https://t.co/x6wPVoEUI5

An amazing turnout today at the 5th annual BC Offshore Teachers’ summer workshop at Langley Christian elementary! Thank you to Ryan Silverthorne for organizing the event every summer; thanks to Jenny DeGroot and Langley Christian team for hosting; thanks to Susan McGuigan from kidsbooks for coming and “setting up shop” with all of my “top picks”; thanks to my colleague and friend Margo McGarry for helping me sell books without any warning! But mostly, my heartfelt thanks to the over 150 teachers from all over the lower mainland and as far away as Qatar who gave up a sunny Friday in their summer break to learn along with me. Your dedication to “best practice” is inspiring! Enjoy the rest of your summer!

100% correct in education. My favorite quote when I was doing my Principal course at UBC was from a BCPVPA member who said: "If any of you think you're the best teacher on your staff your school is in trouble."

Can't wait to pick this one up!

Weeeee! Look what was waiting for me when I got home from my day with my lovely Writing Teams in Kelowna? MY NEW BOOK! It’s finally here! Happy dancing all over the house! Wanted to post a photo of me holding a copy up but my son, who was taking the photo, said, “I wouldn’t post that, Mom. You look really old and a little weird!” So I’m just posting the box of books and maybe when I am not looking so old and weird I may try again! So excited about this book! Debut workshop will be in Toronto at Reading for the Love of It conference next week!
