It’s true. I am now living in Parksville on Vancouver Island and I have classes at the fab local studio Namaskar.
Join me starting next Monday! 🙏🏼
Welcome Stephen!
Meet Stephen, our newest teacher at Namaskar Yoga. Stephen has recently relocated to Parksville from Vancouver and he’s excited to become part of the Parksville — and Namaskar — community.
Stephen’s classes are playful and challenging. He uses clear instructions and demonstrations to help you focus on form, so that you can build your practice from a strong foundation.
Practice with Stephen and you’ll learn anatomy and alignment to build strength and flexibility, as well as yoga philosophy to help you also develop mindfulness skills that you can use in yoga class and in the rest of your life.
Stephen likes to keep his classes light, while also taking yoga quite seriously. His hope is that you will leave class feeling like you worked hard, challenged yourself, learned something and that you had a good time.
He has been teaching for more than 13 years, has led trainings and workshops all over the world (he’s taught in 25 countries so far), and been fortunate to study with some incredible teachers along the way.
You can find Stephen on the schedule starting May 13th!

Just spent four days on Galiano Island resetting. It was incredible. No cell, so stereo, lots of seals and sunshine though.
If you’re interested in practicing yoga in Vancouver with me send me a DM or email me [email protected] or follow me on IG and hit me up there.
I will have new classes soon. A few things planned for summery July and August but after that I’ll be on the mat and ready for you in September, including a new fitness training program for curlers at Vancouver Curling Club. Stay tuned.

Did you know that "reach your arms up overhead" is an actual yoga pose with an actual Sanskrit name? When you do this with you hands together and your gaze up towards your hands, it is called Urdhva Namaskar (or Namaskarasana), which means Upward Prayer Pose, because you have your hands in namaskar, or prayer position.
But don't worry if you can’t straighten your arms above your head. You can bring your hands farther apart. Stretch them up as best as possible. To help, stretch from your inner elbows to your palms, and flex the back of your arms (triceps).
You can find more variations/modifications, a step-by-step video, the benefits and loads more on the blog post I wrote all about Urdhva Namaskarasana. Check it out here: https://adventureyogaonline.com/urdhva-hastasana-benefits/ (link in IG bio as well).
When you check out the post you'll also be able to learn more about Urdhva Namaskar's close relative Urdhva Hastasana (which literally translates as Upward Hands Pose)...
