MO students will be performing ‘Wound’ by Kate Franklin at DOTE EDGE 4 on a split bill with , who will be presenting their new work ‘Soft Animals’! We’re so excited to share the stage with Dance Novella and celebrate 3 MO alumni performing as part of their new work.
Join us on Thursday, June 11 or Saturday, June 13 at 9 PM
Inspired by the novel Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro, Wound follows 14 unique, not-quite-human creatures as they grapple with questions of free will versus programming. Originally performed in the 2025 MO Show, the work was choreographed by Kate Franklin to showcase the exceptional talents of the pre-professional cast of dancers.

MO will be performing for International Dance Day 2026 !
Initiated in 1982 by UNESCO, International Dance Day is celebrated annually on April 29 across Canada and around the world, marking the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727–1810), the founder of modern ballet.

The MO Spring Intensives attract aspiring and emerging professionals ages 16 – 30 from across Canada and abroad. Modus Operandi’s Artistic Directors David Raymond, Tiffany Tregarthen and Kate Franklin offer an inspirational dance experience in which contemporary dance technique, improvisation, movement generation and current company repertoire make for challenging and rewarding exposure to new methods and ideas.
The intensives are ideal ways for dancers to audition for the full MO program, and to get a sense of the environment and values. Upon signing up, please note your intention to audition and fill out the full application accordingly.
There is no audition for the intensives. Participants must be serious experienced dancers who can participate in full-time rigorous dance activity. Registration is first-come-first serve and space is limited.
Participants are also welcome to take the Spring Intensive without auditioning for the full MO program.

One month to go until our Vancouver Spring Intensive + Audition ✨
Join us March 19–22, 2026 at Q7 Studios (77 East 7th Avenue, Vancouver)

Thursday 19 & Friday 20 — 4–8PM
Saturday 21 & Sunday 22 — 10AM–2PM
The MO Intensives welcome aspiring and emerging professionals (ages 16–30) from across Canada and abroad. Led by Modus Operandi Artistic Directors David Raymond, Tiffany Tregarthen, and Kate Franklin, this dance intensive dives into contemporary technique, improvisation, movement generation, and current company repertoire allowing for challenging and rewarding exposure to new methods and ideas.
MO alumni have gone on to work with companies and artists across Canada and internationally, including Kidd Pivot, Ballet BC, Batsheva, Toronto Dance Theatre, Hessisches Staatsballett, and other leading contemporary dance projects worldwide.
The intensive is an opportunity to audition for the full MO program and experience the environment and values firsthand. (Please indicate your intention to audition when registering and complete the full application)
There is no audition required to attend the intensive and dancers can attend without auditioning for the full program. Participants should be serious, experienced dancers prepared for full-time rigorous activity.

It is strongly encouraged to audition during the Spring Intensive as it is the most comprehensive way to audition - dancers have a much fuller experience/success rate.

This audition is for serious dancers ages 17 and up for the post-secondary professional training Modus Operandi season 2026/27.
The audition will include Contemporary Dance, Improvisation and Repertoire led by Co-Artistic Director’s Tiffany Tregarthen and David Raymond of both Out Innerspace and Modus Operandi.

🌟 Includes contemporary dance technique, improvisation, movement generation, current company repertoire and Q&A sessions.
The Spring Intensive is the ideal way for dancers to audition for the MO Full Program. It offers dedicated time with the directors and engagement in MO environment and values. Those interested in using the Spring Intensive to audition for MO Full Program must be serious dancers ages 17 and up. Be sure to fill out the audition application form upon registration.
*if you are unable to attend an MO Intensive but would like to audition for the MO Full Program please reach out to us for alternative audition methods
Participants are also welcome to take the Spring Intensive without auditioning for the MO Full Program. Spring Intensive participants must be serious experienced dancers who can participate in rigorous dance activity. No application is necessary. Registration for the Spring Intensive is first-come-first serve and space is limited.
