We had the honour of attending the premiere of Surf Bay côte Ouest, a powerful new series produced by and , that is already making history. 🎬

As the first-ever French-language television series produced in British Columbia, this project marks an exciting and much-needed step forward for storytelling in our province. And we were honoured to work with the amazing cast & crew to make this a sustainable set! 🌳🌎

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Vancouver Island, the series follows a young surfer navigating the tensions between community, identity, and environmental protection, tackling themes of climate advocacy, climate anxiety, and the urgent need to protect our natural world.

It was incredibly meaningful to witness a production that not only tells an environmental story, but also reflects the growing shift toward more conscious, values-driven filmmaking. We’re especially grateful to have played a role in supporting this journey.

This is just the beginning and we truly hope it’s the first of many French-language and sustainability-focused productions to come out of BC.

Stay tuned as we share more about where you can watch the series, and go behind the scenes with the team who worked hard to ensure the sets were green, clean, and aligned with the future of sustainable production 🌿

There’s something grounding about being in nature... the forests, the oceans, the parks that hold so many of our stories, both on and off screen 🌲💚

This Earth Month, we’re taking a moment to appreciate the spaces that inspire us and recommitting to protecting them.

We’re proud to be representing the production Untitled Hockey Production (coming soon to Netflix!) and take part in the annual REEL Earth Day Challenge - giving back to the regional parks that our industry calls home.

If you’re able to, join us in supporting these vital spaces 🌎

New on The Sustainable Act ✨

We’re excited to share an honest + beautifully written thought piece by storyteller Stevie Gray: “Complex Lessons from Living on the Road.”

After 35 days, 10 US states, 4 Canadian provinces, and 11 national parks, Stevie brings back more than travel moments — he brings back truths.

Truths about:
🌿 loving the land while confronting the footprint it takes to explore it
⛽ the contradictions of travel in a fossil-fueled world
🌎 who gets to access nature — and who’s been displaced from it
✨ finding meaning, discomfort, and connection on the road

This piece holds nuance, care, and reflection — the kind of storytelling we’re proud to uplift at The Sustainable Act.

If you’re craving a read that’s thoughtful, vulnerable, and rooted in sustainability + justice… this is the one.
