LOOSE PARTS

Enjoy the value of loose parts play when you just let your kids go and figure it out on their own.

Some examples of loose parts include cardboard and tape, recyclables, lids, rocks, strings, wood, fabric, leaves and twigs, ramps, kitchen items, and art supplies.

The possibilities are endless and abundant, leaving lots of room for kids to use their imagination!

Safety First! As long as the items are safe, it's good to go and you don't always have to buy supplies...just look around the house, you'll be surprised to find 'free toys' lying around!

Painting with Marbles

A bit messy but great fun, and the results are lovely!

*Shallow box can be used instead of pan
*Finished product can be used for cards, gift wrapping etc.
*Adult supervision is always a must (those marbles...)

Has anyone tried this? πŸ’ŸπŸ’ŸπŸ’Ÿ

πŸ’§Running Colors and Bubbles πŸ’§

Materials:
Foodcolor
Milk
Cotton buds
Dish soap
Plate

Pour milk in a plate.
Add a drop of each food color of your choice.
Dip the cotton buds in the soap and into the plate afterwards.

See the magic happens!

The running bubbles are totally a surprise! Also, we found out that the more fatty the milk is, the faster the colors are pulled along as the molecules of the soap get attracted to the molecules in the milk.

Would you do this simple experiment?
Comment below some of your observations. πŸ’—

Salt Dough Ornament

You'll need:
4 cups all purpose flour
1 cup salt
1.5 cups warm water

For decorating:
acrylic paint/kids paint

Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.

Combine the ingredients and knead for 10 minutes

Roll out the dough to a thickness that you'd like your salt dough ornament to be.

Cut out different shapes for your salt dough ornament, can use large cookie cutters...or improvise!

Have your child place a hand into the salt dough ornament...add water and knead if it's still hard.

Using a straw, make a hole at the top for hanging later...or several holes around like ours πŸ˜‚.

Bake for 1-2 hours depending on the thickness of your dough...needs to be hard enough after baking. If the ornament is still a bit doughy, bake longer or let it sit out a few days to harden before decorating.

Once cool, you can decorate by painting with acrylic or kids paint.
