Alumni Love with Darah and Mads🩵

Darah Darah Volman and Mads mads are the perfect example showing how Kappa is more than just your 4 years at UBC. This big and little duo consistently shows up for each other, travels, and keeps their relationship strong.

This past week they spent time in Darah’s city, Toronto.

This is what she has to say about her big:

“This weekend was a DREAM because I got to spend it exploring my city with one of my favourite people in the whole entire world! 

I am eternally grateful that Kappa brought Mads into my life because it truly has not been the same since. She is the big sister to me that I never had. It’s been over a year since she graduated from Kappa and 7 months since we lived in the same city, yet I feel closer to her than ever. She inspires me to live life more boldly and care for the people in my life more deeply. I feel like the best version of myself around her. Although it sucks not knowing when I am going to see her next, I feel incredibly lucky to have someone in my life that I can miss so dearly. I know this friendship is for life and I cannot wait to go on a million and one more adventures with her. 

I love you forever and ever my beautiful Big!”

Today, Bella Bella from PC’25 talks about one of our Kappa values, trailblazer.

“Coming to UBC from a small high school was a huge transition. When I started at my high school it was still a new community, so much of my experience was about stepping up, starting traditions, and getting involved wherever I could. It was there that I found my confidence as a leader and learned what it meant to be a trailblazer.

Starting at UBC, though, I found myself stepping back. Being surrounded by so many accomplished people in such a large community made me question where I fit and whether I could really make an impact.

Joining Kappa in my second year completely shifted that perspective. The women in this chapter lead with enthusiasm and intention, and watching them make a difference within this community and beyond has encouraged me to step forward again. Serving as our chapter’s Panhellenic Delegate has given me the opportunity to embrace leadership again.

I’m so grateful I get to learn from these incredible women, and I’m excited to continue being inspired by them while finding my own place to make a difference!”
