Red Cedar Book Award Update

For nearly 30 years, the Red Cedar Book Award has connected BC’s young readers with powerful Canadian stories. Now, it’s time for reflection and renewal.

After the 2025/26 season, the Young Readers’ Choice Society of BC will take a hiatus to lay a sustainable foundation for the future of the program. We’re calling on our community—educators, readers, librarians, parents, publishers, and book lovers—to help us reimagine what the next 30 years can look like.

Want to be part of shaping this new chapter?Reach out at [email protected].
Let’s keep Canadian stories in the hands of kids—free, inclusive, and inspiring. ❤️
