The numbers are clear: fraternity brothers commit more sexual assault than unaffiliated college men. Up to three times more. College aged women are about as likely to be sexually assaulted as they are to catch the flu.

This doesn’t mean there are no good frat guys. This doesn’t mean every single frat guy is a ra**st. This doesn’t mean no fraternities have ever done good things. What it means is that right now, at a statistical level, fraternities are harmful institutions that enable mediocrity, aggression, and predatory behavior.

Please: Read to your kids. Make up stories for them. Watch real movies with them. Listen to real music with them. Sing to them. Allow them to be exposed to the beautiful, imperfect, idiosyncratic world around them.

Love looking at tropes in video game music! Nintendo games tend to really lean into tropes, especially cultural tropes. Some people like this style of composing, others think it’s lazy, but it’s definitely effective at conveying a specific type of setting.

Mostly this is a sexism thing targeting our girls before they’re even out of the womb, but even if it’s going in the other direction it’s still bad. Get into a headspace where either outcome is equally fantastic news
