Are you a student thinking of applying to law firms in Toronto in 2023?

Do you identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, we would be delighted to have you join us for the fourth annual Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ Firm Hop, which will take place in-person on March 14, 15, and 16 2023, and virtually on March 17. The Toronto 2SLGBTQ+ Firm Hop will kick-off with an in-person social event on Monday, March 13 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm (hosted at BLG)!

Participating students can tour up to 30 law firms in Toronto over these 4 days. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in working in Toronto to learn more about firms and network with lawyers and articling students before applying in 2023.

The dress code for all 2SLGBTQ+ Firm Hop events will be business casual.

Capacity is limited and registration is on a first come basis. Please register by Friday, March 10, 2023 using the following link: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=ATc4s0gdQU6dRe54Zjd_vF4SU2RqwoBPpcVepZBKALlUM0I4WUU2QkFOUzQxTDJEVDJZNThRN1ZNWC4u

Further correspondence will be sent to participating students with information about how to attend the firm events and more details about the in-person social event in Toronto.

Students are expected to attend the firm sessions and social event for which they register. Participating firms will be provided with a list of students who have registered to attend their events.

If you have any questions or require assistance or accommodations to register, please contact organizers Marco Castelli ([email protected]) and Will Hu ([email protected]).

We hope you can join us and look forward to meeting you!

Do you identify as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community?

If you answered yes to both of these questions, we would be delighted to have you join us for the third annual Vancouver/Alberta 2SLGBTQ+ Virtual Firm Hop, which will take place virtually on January 18, 19, and 20, 2023.

Participating students can virtually tour up to 21 law firms in Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver over these 3 days. We are also planning in-person social events in Calgary and Vancouver. The dress code for all 2SLGBTQ+ Firm Hop events will be business casual.

Capacity is limited and registration is on a first come basis. Please register using the attached Google Form, which asks for information about the following (among other things).

(2) Whether you will attend an in-person social event in Calgary or Vancouver.

All attendees will receive a confirmation email to the email address they provide, confirming their registration and event selections. Registration for the 2023 Vancouver/Alberta 2SLGBTQ+ Virtual Firm Hop will close on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:59pm MST. Further correspondence will be sent to participating students with information about how to attend the firm events and with more details about in-person social events in Calgary and Vancouver.

UBC, UVic, and TRU OutLaws are proud to partner with the BC Superior Courts to present an online session for 2SLGBTQ+ students interested in clerking! Both the BC Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal are actively working to strengthen their inclusive hiring process and attract a more diverse group of clerks by encouraging applications for clerkships from members of previously underrepresented groups. Two q***r judges, one from the Supreme Court (the co-founder of UBC Outlaws!) and one from the Court of Appeal will attend to speak with students about clerking from their perspectives. Legal counsel from both courts will also be there to answer any questions.

This is a great opportunity to both learn more about clerking and the application process, but also about the experiences of q***r judges and counsel in BC! UBC OutLaws is collecting questions from students as well, so if you have any questions that you would prefer to stay anonymous, please reach out and we can ask on your behalf. In addition, if there are students interested, we can book a study room for folks to watch together. Let me know if there are any questions, but I hope to see you all there! This event is open to students in any year.
