Beyond the Sky

Book Three is here!

More Than Moonlight is now available on Amazon.

After more than thirty years of teaching science, I realized there were about ten astronomy lessons I simply never grew tired of teaching. They were the lessons that fired me up—and usually, when the teacher gets excited, the students do too.

That became the idea behind my Lessons From Space series.

More Than Moonlight is the third of those ten lessons. It’s about the Moon we all know so well—and, as I discovered while writing it, perhaps don’t know nearly as well as we think.

This one is particularly special to me. It contains science and history, of course, but also memories of teaching, Apollo, my father, poetry, curiosity, and some thoughts about what our oldest celestial companion can teach us beyond astronomy.

Three books down. Seven to go.

More Than Moonlight is available today on Amazon.

And now…onward to gravity. 😊

Over the years of teaching astronomy, I noticed something interesting.

When students first look at the night sky, they usually see points of light.
But once they begin to understand what those points of light actually are — distant suns, scattered across immense space — their perspective changes.

The stars quietly teach us something about scale, humility, and our place in the universe.

That idea stayed with me for years, and eventually it led me to write a small book.

Lessons From Space is the first in a planned 10-book series. Each short volume explores a scientific idea from astronomy and reflects on what it might teach us about perspective and how we see ourselves.

This first book focuses on the stars.

It’s a short read — something you could finish in about an hour — but I hope it’s the kind of book that people return to from time to time.

The paperback and Kindle versions are now available on Amazon.

If you’ve ever spent time looking up at the night sky and wondering about our place in the universe, you might enjoy it.
