Did anyone else catch the Barbie movie?
Right from the start of the movie, there's this awards ceremony scene that really caught my attention. The award winners, when they accept their well-deserved accolades, have this refreshingly direct way of talking about their accomplishments. They're not shy about highlighting the hard work and dedication they put in. It's like they're saying, "Hey, I worked my heart out for this, and I'm proud of it."
Sure, we all know that achieving something big is hardly ever a one-person show. There are always people who lend a hand, offer support, and make the journey possible. Recognizing that is crucial and a really wonderful thing to do. But what struck me is the idea of also acknowledging our own effort. It's kind of like when someone gives you a compliment β instead of just saying thanks, how about agreeing with them and owning your role in it?
It got me thinking that finding that balance between celebrating our personal hustle and giving credit to the team could add a new dimension to our victories. Just like how the characters in the movie show, accomplishments often come from our individual drive as well as the collective push from those around us.

π¬ π₯ͺ Sandwich feedback is a technique for giving feedback that involves "sandwiching" constructive feedback between two positive comments.
While it can be an effective way to deliver constructive criticism without discouraging the recipient, there are also downsides to using sandwich feedback. π€ππΌ
On the one hand, sandwich feedback can help soften the blow of negative feedback and make it more palatable. πππΌ
However, it can also come across as insincere, dilute the impact of the feedback, and be time-consuming. π
πΌββοΈβ°
To use sandwich feedback effectively, make sure your positive comments are genuine and specific, keep the constructive feedback specific and actionable, and use it sparingly. π―ππΌ
Remember, the goal of feedback is to help the recipient improve, and different approaches may work better for different people and situations. ππΌπ‘

I know that job searching can be a stressful and overwhelming experience. That's why I always recommend setting achievable goals for each week or month of your job search, and taking the time to celebrate your progress along the way π.
I've seen my friends applying to jobs 12 hours a day, sending out hundreds of applications in a week and do you know what happens?
They burn themselves out within the first month of applications, feel terrible about themselves and feel isolated because they have given up every opportunity to socialize because they are so worried about finding work.
Even if you are strapped for cash, take the time to reflect and plan so you don't allow uncertainty to force you to take on a job you will end up leaving a few months later. Think about what companies you want to work for, focus in on customizing your resume. Talk to their recruiters and employees to get references and be intentional. This is time to invest in your future and make sure you don't have to do this for at least a few years.
