🎺78 of our Senior School Band and Choir students headed to beautiful Whistler for the Con Brio Music Festival and they absolutely delivered! Led by Ms. Mirtic and Ms. Ninan, Yorkies showcased their incredible talent, dedication, and artistry in multiple performances. From solo performances to adjudicator workshops to massed bands and choirs performing alongside hundreds of students, our musicians rose to every challenge with confidence, passion, and pure York House spirit. Congratulations to our concert band on receiving Gold Rating and our concert choir on their Silver Rating!

The adventure didn’t stop at the festival! Our students soaked in the breathtaking beauty of the Sea to Sky Gondola near Squamish and deepened their cultural understanding with a visit to the Squamish Lil’Wat Cultural Centre, because learning happens everywhere in every opportunity.

☕️Hycroft Tea: A grad tradition where the past meets the future. Our Class of 2026 gathered alongside Alum parents and staff at the historic Hycroft Manor for a special afternoon tea hosted by the YHS Alum Association. In these elegant surroundings, our newest soon-to-be alums joined a generations-long legacy of Yorkies who have sat in these same seats, honoured lifelong friendships, and discovered the enduring power of the York House community.

To our Class of 2026: you are stepping into an extraordinary legacy. Welcome to the Alum family! 💚💛

It’s Earth Week at YHS!

The Senior School Green Club organized a week of activities to celebrate Earth Day and to promote awareness and actions for sustainability. Yorkies came up with sustainable actions they could do to make a difference and decorated the Senior School wall with their own personal pledges:
“I pledge to walk more”
“I pledge to reuse and recycle”
“I pledge to turn off my lights when I leave the room”

In addition, they challenged each other in Earth Day trivia, planted vegetables like peas, cucumber, and carrots, and put reduce, reuse, and recycle into action with our annual Fashion Swap.

York House lives our environmental values through hands-on learning, scientific understanding, and practical commitments!

At York House, we not only celebrate girls in technology; we challenge them to lead it! On International Girls in ICT Day, we’re proud to showcase how our students are exploring, creating, and innovating with technology across grade levels through class work and co-curricular activities:

💻Grade 4s: Coding Meets Mathematics
Our Grade 4s took command of Sphero BOLT robots using block coding, discovering how technology can bring mathematical concepts to life—from fractions and multiplication to geometry.

🧝‍♀️ Grade 5s: AI-Powered Creativity
Grade 5s put their imagination to work, using AI as a tool to enhance their creativity to craft “elf job applications” for the North Pole. Then brought their applications to life with imagery using Flint AI.

📰 Grade 6s: Digital Design and Publishing
Our Grade 6s channeled their inner journalists, applying digital design and publishing skills to produce their very own Mighty Tiger Newsletters.

🎙️ Yorkie Mic’d Club: Podcast Power
Our Senior School Yorkie Mic’d Club dove deep into the art of podcast production, mastering best practices and discovering the power of their voices in the digital and audio landscape.

🎬Social Media Ambassadors (Grades 10-12): Tech-savvy Content Creators
Our Social Media Ambassadors experimented with diverse filming styles and editing tools, producing compelling short-form content that brings the York House story to life for the public.

Special thanks to all our teachers and staff for their guidance to our students, sparking their curiosity in ICT and responsible use of technology and AI.
