Few things feel as good as speaking your truth knowing that it will contribute to a meaningful shift in someone else!

A Freedom that no one can rob you of...

Today, stuff is going to happen. Someone will say something to you. The weather might turn sour. The line at your favorite lunch place will be too long.

This is the stimulus. This is the world reaching out and shoving you. The question is, what will you do about it? What will your reaction be?

Viktor Frankl talked about how between stimulus and response, we have space, and in that space, we determine not just our response, but who we are.

The 4 Disconnecting Dichotomies:

1) Right-Wrong
2) Good-Bad
3) Deserve - Don't Deserve
4) Should - Shouldn't

While such distinctions are not wrong in and of themselves, they often act as a barrier to unveiling our emotions and needs at any given time. Pause. Breathe. Relax!

Your soul is yearning for you to turn it all off and be silent. Emotions, thoughts, perceptions, worries, plans, labels, stories, etc. will all manifest. They will come and perhaps stay a while.

Then: Let go. Let God!

There is a pilot program that my colleagues and I are working on regarding Nonviolent Communication and Social Media. It is directed towards youth ages 12-18 and the goal is to bring more awareness regarding their emotions such that youth are better able and equipped to respond rather than react on social media.

REQUEST:

If there is anyone who is a middle-school teacher in Houston, Texas OR you know of a middle-school teacher in the Houston area (preferably in an underserved area) who might like to be part of this pilot project, please ask them to be in touch with us via Dignified Dialogue: [email protected]

Dignity Need Not Require Dollars

The nuggets of wisdom I gleaned from being raised in a low-income family are countless, and I wouldn’t trade those life lessons for anything.
