Another great activity at the Kinawit Cultural Site!

Our students and staff enjoyed a wonderful outdoor day filled with canoeing, archery, volleyball, and quality time together. To top it all off, we enjoyed a great lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs.

A special thank you to Brandon Caavd and Amélia from the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Val-d'Or / Val-d'Or Native Friendship Centre for welcoming us, and to Shelly, our FNMI Coordinator, for organizing this activity with them.

This is a great example of our partnership with the Native Friendship Centre, offering meaningful opportunities for students to learn about Indigenous culture and connect with the land.

Miigwech Native Friendship Centre for this experience. We look forward to continuing this amazing partnership next year.

While a few days of classes and exams still remain, we would like to wish all of our students and staff a wonderful summer!

It is with great pride that we share that our graduate, ROXANNE LARIVIÈRE-LACROIX, was the recipient of an Honourable Mention at the Mëmëgwashi Gala, which celebrates academic perseverance among Indigenous students.

This prestigious recognition highlights the journey of an Indigenous person, their remarkable commitment to achieving their goals, and their contribution to the Val-d’Or community and surrounding areas. Roxanne received this honour under the MOKO category.

Congratulations, ROXANNE! You make our centre proud, and we feel privileged to have witnessed your journey and success.

We would also like to thank the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Val-d'Or / Val-d'Or Native Friendship Centre for organizing such an important event that recognizes and encourages the perseverance and achievements of Indigenous students. We are grateful for the opportunity and honour of presenting our group of students during this special celebration.

Megweech! 🙏🏻

🎓 Today is a very special day at Adult Education as we celebrate success, perseverance, and achievement!

We are proud to recognize our 2026 graduates, Xavier Rose and Roxanne Larivière-Lacroix, whose hard work and determination have led them to earn their high school diplomas.

We also celebrate two students who have successfully completed important prerequisites toward their future goals:

👏 Jack Anthony Mitchell, who has completed the prerequisites required to enroll in a vocational program.

👏 Milan Champagne, a former graduate of our Adult Education Centre, who completed her prerequisites in Advanced Science and has already been accepted to the University of Sherbrooke. What an incredible accomplishment!

Today, we congratulate not only these students, but all of our learners—those who have graduated, those who have completed prerequisites, and those who continue to work diligently toward their high school diploma or future educational goals. Every step forward is worth celebrating.

We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the parents, partners, families, and friends who have supported our students throughout their journeys. Your encouragement makes a difference.

A special thank you to our valued partners:

Centre d'amitié autochtone de Val-d'Or / Val-d'Or Native Friendship Centre for the wonderful cultural activities offered weekly at our centre.
CDRHPNQ FNHRDCQ for supporting and funding opportunities for our Indigenous students.
Neighbours Abitibi-Témiscamingue for providing unique workshops that help our students develop valuable life skills.
Richard Aire Ouverte for his ongoing support and regular visits with our students.

We are incredibly proud of our students and honoured to be part of their educational journey.

Well done, everyone!

Our students had the privilege of participating in a field trip to First Falls (La Première-Chute) in Notre-Dame-du-Nord. During the visit, they enjoyed a guided tour of the hydroelectric generating station and learned how electricity is produced using the power of water.

It was an interesting and educational experience that allowed our students to learn outside the classroom while discovering an important part of our region's history and technology.

Learning doesn't only happen in the classroom! 😊

We are very proud to announce that our very first graduate of the year is Roxanne Lariviere Lacroix! 🎓👏

Roxanne will be obtaining her high school diploma this year, and I had the great pleasure and honour, as her teacher, to nominate her for the Memegwashi Gala recognizing academic perseverance and success of indigenous students, organized by the Centre d'amitié autochtone de Val-d'Or / Val-d'Or Native Friendship Centre

Her determination, perseverance, and hard work have been truly inspiring. Roxanne has shown that with courage and dedication, obstacles can be overcome, and dreams can become reality. She is a wonderful role model for all students who continue to work hard toward their goals.

Congratulations, Roxanne! We are all so proud of you and wish you continued success in all that is ahead of you! ❤️🙌
