A little fall edition of Make Tea with Me!

09/29/2026

Today I harvested the blue corn from my Dr Elaine's Soil Food Web School field trial. I have already measured soil microbes, kernel Brix, and soil compaction. Now I will measure cob yield (weight) and send samples off for chemistry analysis.

I took a moment to pray for a good harvest, especially one that does better with 5 rounds of compost extract. I really want to see good results with this study, but I fear the forces of nature are going challenge me again.

In honour of truth and reconciliation day coming tomorrow, studied the traditional practice of braiding flint corn to hang it to dry and as decoration, and am preparing for a gathering ReWild Uxbridge if anyone wants to join. I will be serving cornbread and blue corn chips and salsa. Welcoming all folks, stories, and more snacks.

DM me if you plan on coming, thanks!
4-6pm tomorrow, Wednesday September 30th.

Our Compost Tea workshop was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed giving these workshops and getting to know individuals from our health conscious/nature loving/ soil nerd community! We all learn together and find ways to support each other (got a new compost turning volunteer!). Lets keep this community growing!
