🎰 Casino Volunteers Still Needed!

We’re getting closer to Sheep Creek Arts Council’s casino fundraiser on September 24 & 25 at ACE Casino Calgary, and we still have a few spots to fill!

We are currently looking for:
🎲 A few Chip Runners
🙋 A few Backup Volunteers

Meals and beverages are provided during your shift.

Casino funding is incredibly important to SCAC and helps us continue offering arts programs and opportunities in our community. If you can help us fill one of these remaining spots, we’d be very grateful!

One of our popular Sheep Creek Arts Council instructors, Renee Carrier, has generously donated artwork to the Sheep River Health Trust Community Art Program!

Renee’s beautiful pieces are currently on display at the Okotoks Health & Wellness Centre as part of this wonderful program supporting local art and the Sheep River Health Trust.

One of the things that makes the Millarville Fair so much fun is the incredible variety of entries from people throughout our community. We’d love to encourage you to enter some of your art this year!

🎨 Celebrating Young Artists in Our Community ⭐️

The Sheep Creek Arts Council is pleased to recognize the recipients of the 2025/2026 Sheep Creek Arts Council Award for Excellence in the Arts Bursary.

This year’s bursary program was offered in honour of past SCAC president Bill Rowe and was created to celebrate Oilfields High School students who have demonstrated excellence in the visual arts.

Three bursaries were awarded this year:

• $500 to a Grade 10 student
• $500 to a Grade 11 student
• $1,000 to a Grade 12 student

Congratulations to Grade 10 recipient Arya Boland and Grade 11 recipient Kayla Boyarski, as well as this year’s Grade 12 recipient.

Students were recognized for their originality, technical skill, composition, emotional impact, hard work, and dedication to their artistic practice.

SCAC is proud to support young artists in our community and encourage them to continue pursuing their creative interests.

Congratulations to all three bursary recipients — we are looking forward to seeing the creative pursuits you get up to in the future!

This is SCAC’s largest fundraiser and only happens once every three years. The previous casino raised approximately $60,000, helping support arts programming, activities, and creative opportunities in our community.

We are still looking for volunteers for the following positions:

📅 Thursday & Friday
• Chip Runners – 6:30 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.
• Cashiers – 6:45 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.

📅 Thursday Only
• Count Room Volunteer – 11:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m.

🍽️ Meals are provided for all casino volunteers ⭐️

Cashier positions are key roles and require AGLC paperwork to be completed in advance.

If you can lend a hand, please sign up as soon as possible. We especially need Cashiers and Chip Runners on both days.

🎉 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Volunteers! 🥧🧵

What a wonderful Quilt Show & Bake Sale!

Thanks to the incredible generosity, hard work, and community spirit of so many volunteers, bakers, quilters, donors, and supporters, this year’s event was a tremendous success.

From harvesting and preparing rhubarb, rolling pastry, baking pies, creating beautiful quilt displays, accepting donations, organizing baked goods, helping with sales, and keeping everything running smoothly on the day of the event – it truly took a village.

A special thank you to everyone who donated rhubarb, baked goods, supplies, time, and talent. By 3:00 p.m., nearly everything had sold out – a testament to the outstanding support from our community!

We are also grateful to the Valley Neighbours Club for the use of their facility, AG Foods for helping bake our pies, and all of the volunteers who worked behind the scenes to make the day possible.

Thank you to everyone who attended, purchased baking, admired the quilts, and supported this important fundraiser. Events like these showcase the creativity, generosity, and community spirit that make Diamond Valley such a special place.
