The Rotary Clubs of Brighton, Campbellford, Quinte Sunrise, Stirling , Trenton and Wellington would like to offer students grades 4-8 the opportunity to participate in our 5th Annual Rotary Spelling Bee. We have had to cancel the last three years because of Covid, but now we are ready to restart this worthwhile opportunity for junior and intermediate students, the chance to compete in a way that is inclusive to all. We envision having the schools conduct their preliminary In-House Spelling Bee to identify students in each category to represent each of the schools in our area i.e. Kawartha Pine Ridge, Hastings and Prince Edward, Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic School Boards as well as private schools. Each School that participates will receive a $100 cheque towards their school Literacy program. The top student winners in the junior and intermediate categories will receive a gift card redeemable at Chapters/Indigo. The winners attending the regional Spell-Off have the possibility of an additional $150 gift card for the first prize, $100 for the second and $50 as a third place finish in each division. We hope you will encourage support among the schools in your district to provide students the opportunity to build self confidence and another opportunity for achievement. Please lend your support to what we feel is a worthwhile student activity. Most schools have used Educational Week to conduct their in-school competitions.
