Perhaps peace isn't found
when the waves stop…
but when we stop fighting them.

Sitting in my kayak, I watched this blanket of lily pads rise and fall as one with the waves beneath them.

There was something so peaceful about it. They weren't resisting the movement. They simply moved with it.

I thought about how differently we tend to move through life.

We resist, brace against what is happening and wish things were different.all while telling ourselves, I'll feel better when this is over… when things settle down… when I know what's going to happen.

In a way, we're constantly hoping the waves will stop moving beneath us.

But life moves.

We live in constant change.
Plans change, relationships change, we change.

Perhaps peace isn't found in waiting for the water to become still. Maybe it's found in learning to trust ourselves enough to move with what is.

Learning to surrender to what we cannot control and meet each wave as it comes.

🦋 Where can you practice flow with the waves in your life?

Pause. Breathe. Notice.

Today's camping experiment: dehydrated babaganoush!

It certainly didn't look very promising at first…but add a little water, stir, wait, and voilà ... lunch!

One of the things I love about new experiences is discovering the little things along the way.

Sometimes the adventure is simply trying something you've never tried before.

And yes… I ate it. 😂

Would you try dehydrated babaganoush?

Sometimes the smallest things hold an entire world.

I woke up on our camping trip to a thick wall of white fog.

The landscape had almost completely disappeared.

I started looking closer and that's when I noticed the magic.

A single drop of dew hanging from the tip of a pine needle—and somehow, reflected inside that tiny drop, I could see the whole landscape.

A spiderweb decorated with perfect little circles of water.

A St. John's wort flower glistening in the morning mist.

Everything was still and felt so alive.

And I wondered...

How much beauty do we miss because we're looking too far ahead?

Sometimes when we can't see the whole path, life invites us to notice what's right in front of us.

One drop.
One flower.
One breath.
One beautiful moment.

Maybe we don't always need to see beyond the fog.

Maybe we just need to be present enough to see the wonder that's here.

Pause. Breathe. Notice.

Sometimes the mind of reason needs to step aside so the playful heart can take the lead.

My mind is very good at calculating.

Be careful.
Don't get wet.
You're fully dressed.
That's probably not a good idea.

Reasonable advice, but as I started playing with the waterfall, something else began to speak.

There was that little pull to go deeper, I was fully in the moment where I stopped thinking, I stopped calculating
And suddenly...

FULL SEND. 😂💦

I walked straight through the waterfall, completely dressed.

And you know what was waiting for me on the other side?

Joy.

It was silly, in the moment joy.

It reminded me that coming home to ourselves isn't always serious inner work.

Sometimes it's remembering how to play, be spontaneous and be ok to get a little wet and forget, for a moment, about being careful or proper.

There is wisdom in discernment, but there is also wisdom in knowing when it's safe to loosen our grip and let the playful heart lead.

Maybe that's a sacred practice too.

Where could you trade a little "proper" for a little more play today?

your joy

The reviews are pouring in for Sacred Miles on the Camino, and I find myself deeply moved by the words people are sharing. ❤️

When I wrote this book, I shared some of the most vulnerable parts of my own journey with the hope that somewhere, someone might recognize a piece of themselves within its pages.

And now I'm hearing that it is reaching people.

That it is helping them reflect on their own patterns, their own choices, and the possibility of something different.

That means more to me than I can say.

May Sacred Miles continue to find its way into the hands and hearts of those who need its message.

And to everyone who has read, reviewed, recommended, or shared this book...

Thank you for helping it travel farther than I ever could alone. ❤️

Every step home to yourself is sacred.
