The doors are officially open!🚪✨
This morning, distinguished guests, Board members, school and student leaders, senior volunteers, donors and the media gathered to celebrate the grand opening of the Karen L. Jurjevich Innovation Centre and Studio Theatre (iCAST)!
Designed by ENNEAD and MJMA, iCAST is the only facility of its kind in Canada for students from JK to Grade 12. It brings together STEM, the arts, technology and entrepreneurship to prepare our girls to become the creators and leaders of tomorrow. Beyond serving our students, iCAST provides access to the broader community, unlocking transformative opportunities and empowering the next generation of visionary innovators.
We were thrilled to welcome Karen Jurjevich, Branksome’s seventh Principal and iCAST’s namesake, back to campus. She shared how two months of executive study in Silicon Valley originally catalyzed the iCAST project.
An event highlight was the Lo Family Theatre unveiling. A representative of the Lo family spoke about the impact of her family’s transformational generosity: “For us, the happiest part will be seeing it used and enjoyed—the performances, the work behind the scenes and students discovering something they love.
This event also gave a preview of Nocturne, a devised performance co-created by Branksome students and artists from Toronto’s Red Sky Performance. Branksome also launched the Canadian premiere of ‘200 Women,’ a groundbreaking photographic exhibition within iCAST showcasing 37 portraits of iconic women from across the globe.
