Her work focused on the coverage of Aamjiwnaang First Nation and uses participatory methods and photography to show the communities' complexity, strength, and resilience. πŸ“Έ ​ ​

EUC Doctoral candidate Natalie Wood decorated the tree below for the 29th edition of Christmas Spice, the annual Paul Petro holiday exhibition inspired by the idea that someone might one day acquire or gift their first work of art, with new works and works from the vault, made by gallery and guest artists, including some other EUC folks as well! Opening party tonight and runs through the holiday season.

With curatorial guidance and collaboration from Mikinaak Migwans, Assistant Professor in Art History and Curator of Indigenous Art, University of Toronto
You are warmly invited to the opening of Plant Signals Echoing from Stong House, at Crossroads HNES 283 an exhibition that weaves speculative fiction with lived ecologies. Join us in this multi-station circuit, where you are invited to participate, contribute, attune your senses, and let disbelief fall away.
The exhibition features work emerging from a plant survey conducted on the lands surrounding Stong House and the Barn by the HKMPH Collective. Their research and exhibition-making process involved listening and observing closely to the quiet transmissions carried through the land and plant life.

One of our MES Alum Owen Blakka Ellis was recently honoured in Jamaica for his ongoing contribution to Performing Arts in Jamaica. Congrats Blakka!

We're shining a spotlight on one of our 2025 Lifetime Achievement Awardees, Mr. Owen β€œBlakka” Ellis!

One of the Caribbean’s most celebrated entertainers, educators, and cultural visionaries, Mr. Ellis has spent nearly five decades transforming comedy, theatre, and education while fostering cross-cultural dialogue across the region and beyond. As a longtime lecturer at the Edna Manley College, co-founder of the Area Youth Foundation and dedicated community leader, he has shaped generations of artists and educators. His international performances, film roles, and global workshops reflect a career defined by artistic excellence and social consciousness.

Passionate and visionary, he continues to leave an enduring and transformative mark on Caribbean culture and global entertainment - congratulations to you, Mr. Ellis!

Meet Emily, an Environmental Arts and Justice student βš–οΈ and an Environmental & Urban Change Undergraduate Research Award (EUCURA) recipient. Under the supervision of Professor Andil Gosine, Emily worked on the Visual Arts After Indentureship (VAAI) Project, where she examined artistic practices that emerged from histories of indentureship across the Caribbean, Guyana and other regions. 🎨🌎
