Congratulations to our very own Mr. Wesley Cheang, who continues to accomplish great things in the concert band and composition world. This week you can catch him at the WASBE booth at The Midwest Clinic in Chicago!

This summer, Mr. Cheang traveled to South Korea where his piece "Three Balloons" was a finalist in the WASBE-World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles composition competition. "Three Balloons" is also included in this year's Ontario Band Association Concert Band Festival syllabus.

Cheang's compositions are charming and programmatic. Unique, whimsical elements play together with rhythmic and harmonic complexity that nods to his jazz upbringing. He continues to write several pieces for wind ensembles each year, in addition to teaching full time.

Congrats to all of our 2024 graduates!

Congratulations to our Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble on two outstanding performances at the OBA Concert Band Festival today. It was our first time at the festival since 2020, and it sure felt great to be back. The two bands played 3 new original compositions by Mr. Cheang and everyone was in top form.

The 2022-2023 school year is almost over. Our staff and students were pumped to celebrate this year's accomplishments at the Music Banquet this week. Big thanks to the Music Council and everyone who helped make it a successful event!

Congratulations to the ensemble and their conductor, Mr. Wesley Cheang for leading them to great things, as well as composing two beautiful pieces for them to showcase today.

Our Wind Ensemble has arrived in Niagara Falls for MusicFest 2023! We're so excited to have this opportunity after 4 years since our last band trip. Have fun and play your hearts out, everyone!

It's the wave of the future! Back in January, we welcomed over 200 feeder school students to our band workshop day.

We're so happy to see our local elementary band programs starting up again. Band students of all experience levels are always welcome in our grade 9 program (including beginners)!

It's the start of a new school year, full of challenges and uncertainty. Mr. Cheang has been busy during this year's lockdown writing lots of music, including this collaboration with Mrs. Elkouby and 3 other TDSB music teachers, Mr. Snodgrass, Ms. Park, and Mr. Siu. We are TDSBeats!
