Greetings Band Directors, Musicians and Parents! PLEASE SHARE.
Registration is open for the 2026-2027 season of the Nova Scotia Junior Wind Ensemble! We are hoping to have most of our applications in by May 31, 2026, to get a jump on planning for next season. We are thrilled to have Jacob Caines, a Dalhousie University professor and conductor of the Dalhousie Wind Ensemble on board to conduct the NSJWE this coming season.
We are asking for a short, straightforward "audition" recording to help us better determine part placements and minimize rehearsal disruption on the first night. A short musical excerpt for this purpose can be found on the website. Please do your best, but don't stress! This is just a helpful tool for the conductor, the librarian, and me to preplan parts and repertoire as efficiently as possible.
We can accept applications after May 31st, but for both bursaries and section numbers (especially percussion and alto sax), time/date stamps will heavily influence acceptance after May 31st. Early applications also make planning significantly easier for your hardworking executive!
We are so looking forward to hearing from you, and another epic season of the Nova Scotia Junior Wind Ensemble! For more information on the application process please go to NSJWE. https://nsjwe.ca Also, please feel free to pass this information on to anyone you know who might be interested!

The ‘Aldershot Alumni Clash Band’ would like to invite members of any of the NS Community Bands to play in a ‘Clash Band’ style marching band Saturday May 30, 2026 in Kentville NS for the Apple Blossom parade.
There is a rehearsal Friday night for anyone who can make it. The kids parade is Saturday morning and the grand parade is in the afternoon. Don’t worry if you can’t make the rehearsal, there will be opportunity to run through the tunes before each parade. You can participate in either or both parades!
It is a lot of fun and open to anyone from experienced marching band musicians to someone who would like to give it a try.
You can contact Pam Forrester for more information and links to the music. 902-314-4573 or [email protected]
If you would like to get an idea of what a ‘Clash Band’ is all about, check out the original Charlottetown Community Clash Band on Facebook - link in comment section below.
