Are you an undergraduate student interested in Mathematical Modelling? Have you ever been interested in solving real-world problems? If so, then come join the Consortium for Mathematics and its Applications (COMAP’s) Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) / Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) from February 16-20, 2023.

COMAP’s Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) / Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling (ICM) is an international contest designed to provide undergraduate students with the opportunity to work as team members to engage in and improve their modeling, problem solving, and writing skills. Teams apply mathematics to model, develop, and communicate a solution to a real-world problem.

The department of Mathematics and Statistics will pay the registration fees for all the teams.

Team Members: A team may consist of up to three students currently enrolled in the same school. Students may be enrolled in any department or program at the school.

How to join the Competition

Step 1: Form teams of up to three students if possible. Feel free to register alone.
Step 2: Sign up in the link below (before January 16, 2023) and we will register you.

Problem Choices
Contest teams of up to three students address one of the following six problems choices over the period of the contest weekend.

MCM Problem A (continuous)
MCM Problem B (discrete)
MCM Problem C (data insights)
ICM Problem D (operations research/network science)
ICM Problem E (sustainability)
ICM Problem F (policy)

The Competition is FREE to join for students from our department!

Awards and Prizes
Students are also eligible to receive academic and monetary prizes!
The International COMAP Scholarship Award will be awarded to the four(4) top MCM/ICM teams from any of the participating countries; $9000 being split among the team members and $1000 to the school represented. Awards will be announced on or before May 31st.
