The SRPAA 2021 Perspectives Lecture promises to be a must-attend event!
Building on the theme of “A Beautiful Composition” the evening will explore the intersection of the arts and real estate. The event will include performances from Canadian Jazz Pianist, Thompson Egbo-Egbo, and spoken word artist Trevlyn Kennedy, followed by an address from Mitchell Cohen, CEO & President, The Daniels Corporation on how real estate can drive positive social change.
It will conclude with a conversation between Mitchell and Tim Jones, Former CEO of Artscape, digging deeper into projects and concepts behind our theme and an audience Q&A.
All proceeds generated from the event will go towards the newly created SRPAA Leadership Fund for Black and Indigenous Communities. Details on these exciting new scholarships will be provided at the event.
Please join us in-person at Daniels Spectrum (limited in-person tickets available) or virtually. Thank you to all of our sponsors, including Penthouse Sponsors, Altus Group and Cadillac Fairview, for making this event possible.

2020 in Review | Optimism into 2021: On behalf of the Schulich Real Property Alumni Association
Happy New Year! 😊 The holidays are over ☹, we are (somewhat) easing into 2021, and returning to the “office” (wherever that may be!). It is incredible to think back over the last year and all that has happened around the world.

World class real estate development companies aren't built overnight.
Join Lirad Kligman, SRPAA Director of Partnerships, as he co-hosts Stephen Diamond and Bob Blazevski on Tuesday June 9 at 11am in a live discussion about how they built DiamondCorp plus the wisdoms, lessons and insights they gained along the way.
Inspired by the popular "How I Built This" podcast, this is the first in a series of digital masterminds profiling innovative leaders in Toronto's real estate space.

SRPAA is helping spread the word!
CommonElement - Invest as little as $20 in pre-construction condos.
We would like to solicit your feedback for a real estate micro-investing platform idea for pre-construction condos in major Canadian cities.
If you are a Canadian resident, we would greatly appreciate you taking 2 minutes to complete the below survey (no longer, we promise!).

Last week, Jim Clayton, Andre Kuzmicki, and Bryna Abtan, of the Brookfield Centre in RE&I, met (virtually) with the SRPAA Executive and the chairs of our major annual events including the Perspectives Lecture, the Annual Golf Classic and Developers' Den.
With all the recent changes to our "normal" lives, we reflected on how we miss the interactions that have kept our Schulich community strong & connected for so many years, and, on what we can do to better serve this community.
We have aligned on four initiatives and are calling on our alumni and friends to step up and support us as we emerge into this this new normal of physical distancing and reduced in-person contact.
1. Mentorship
We are challenging our alumni to join a roster of industry leaders to connect with current MBA and MREI students for "virtual" coffee chats. Please email [email protected] if you are interested in volunteering as a mentor.
2. Drop-in Meetings
We plan to host regular drop-in Zoom meetings to have informed discussions and breakout conversations on topics relevant to our communities and the RE&I sectors. Stay tuned for further details.
3. Moderated Panels
More formalized event and panel discussions on the issues facing our businesses and communities. Details to come.
4. Student Internships/Projects
A highlight of the third (summer) term of the MREI program is the part-time internship program. COVID-19 has led many of our industry partners to suspend internship positions, while others are finding thoughtful ways to continue in a WFH environment. Our students need your help to fulfill this important experiential learning component.
A talented class of MREI students is eager to help you and learn. We are actively seeking to place students for at least June and July.
If you can help or want to learn more please contact Bryna Abtan at [email protected]
Over the last many years, SRPAA events have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Schulich Real Estate and Infrastructure Student Experience Fund. As we face these new challenges, funds raised though the above initiatives will be directed towards local communities and organizations related to the topics we discuss.
Please contact [email protected] if you are interested in participating as a sponsor.
