In a lot of pain and waiting for my next painkiller dose. Currently on medication and wishing for a speedy recovery but it really upset me that this was my automatic response to my doctor upon receiving medical news. Spin class was my stress reliever and I canāt coach or ride either so right now itās healing by resting (with fever sweats and cuddles).
In a capitalist society where people are productivity machines, we forget that we can easily be replaced but who we are at the core and as family members cannot be. Even with a medical note, I was asking my dr if itās necessary to take time off and she had to talk sense into me.
Please take the time to go to the doctor if you feel unwell. I was hoping to ignore symptoms Iāve never experienced and still showed up to work on Monday (terrible idea) until my intuition told me I really needed to seek medical attention when minor things didnāt improve and started feeling more intense. Iām glad I did. If your body is in pain, thatās your body talking to you!
The chronic stress isnāt just due to work but a multitude of factors. Including the future of public education :(. Donāt forget IG is a highlight reel if me being stressed is a surprise to you.
Sending love and light to all and letting this remind you, you are not just your job. Your health comes first and donāt forget it like I didā„ļø

Cuts to staffing. Reduced classroom resources. More pressure on already stretched schools š
Is this the direction we want for Ontario education?
Imagine instead: smaller classes, enough staff in every school, and students getting the help they need without delay or struggle.
The next generation of doctors, scientists, teachers, and leaders are already in these classrooms.
If you could change ONE thing in schools, what would it be? š

Massive Ontario education cuts continue⦠heartbreaking news. My kids loved their field trip outside with knowledgeable outdoor educators and place-based education. This was a fantastic way to support Indigenous ways of knowing.
My concern is: what cuts are next? š Our kids are the ones most impacted by this
TDSB teachers, I know the ending of this video is the scariest part for youšš.
The kids can smell summer break š & teaching currently feels like 30 tabs open in a browser⦠We still have assemblies, report cards, AND spirit days left šš.
Teachers, what sentence have you repeated too many times this week? šā¬ļø Iām still reminding my kids to raise their hands

Growing up, I just thought my mom was āstrict.ā Now that Iām older, I realize she was carrying the pressure of building a life from scratch in a country where she didnāt even speak the language yet.
I think a lot of children of immigrants grow up realizing their parents were figuring everything out in real time while still trying to make childhood feel normal for us. The packed lunches. The exhaustion. The way she always made sure we had opportunities she never got.
Happy Motherās Day to my mom. Me and my twin sister getting to grow up and become teachers is something weāll never take for grantedā„ļø
Children of immigrant parents⦠whatās something you understand now that you didnāt understand as a kid? š«¶š»
Kids wonāt remember every lesson⦠but theyāll remember how their classroom feltš. Behind every fun Friday is a teacher trying to make childhood feel special.
Ending off Teacher Appreciation Week in pajamas and glow sticks because my class voted for the ultimate Friday celebration ⨠The extra little things teachers do every day might seem small, but they become the memories kids carry forever. THANK YOU EDUCATORS for all your hard work shaping the future & demonstrating care and compassion everyday.

Teachers: save yourself the picture book search this May š š ā„ļø
I pulled together some Asian Heritage Month books that would fit so beautifully into Grade 2 conversations around identity, family, culture, immigration, belonging, and representation. Whether youāre looking for a quick morning read aloud, SEL connection, or writing prompt inspiration.
Hope this saves another teacher some planning time this month š«¶š¼
Save this post for your next library trip or literacy block!āØ
