POV: You had to move classrooms… 😂🤍

One week, a LOT of organizing, some very early mornings, and a few “where am I putting this?!” moments later… we’re settled. ✨ The new space is beginning to feel like home, and I’m getting to know a few new little faces along the way. 🥹

Not exactly the start to the year I pictured, but I’m learning that sometimes you just roll with it, make the best of it, and get in the mindset of: new adventure 🫶🏻. A reminder to all of you (and myself): give yourself some grace!

Our students will remember how we made them feel. 🧡

Today, on Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, I keep coming back to one thing: Every child deserves to feel like they matter.

Phyllis Webstad was only six years old when she arrived at a residential school wearing a brand-new orange shirt her grandmother had bought for her. It was taken away from her. Her story is now at the heart of Orange Shirt Day.

Thousands of Indigenous children were separated from their families and communities and forced to attend residential schools. Many never made it home.

As teachers, we can’t change what happened.
But we can choose what happens in our classrooms today.

We can listen.
We can learn.
We can tell the truth.
We can make space for every child’s identity, culture and story.
And we can build classrooms where every child knows: you belong here. You are valued. You matter.

Because for a child, belonging isn’t a small thing. It can change everything. 🧡

Let’s keep the conversation going; not just on September 30th, but all year long. 🧡 Every Child Matters.

The busiest couple of days 📦. But if there’s one thing this week reminded me of, it’s how lucky I am to work with such incredible people. ❤️

A little unexpected classroom shuffle meant packing up my entire room and getting everything ready for a new space in just a couple of days… and I am so grateful for the people who showed up to help me get it all done. 🥹🫶🏻

Focusing on the positives: my kids are sweet and I get to come to a school where I feel so lucky to be surrounded by good humans. ✨ I know my classroom will still feel like home Monday because of the relationships we’ve built. Not because I have 100% of my things set up!

I’ve never been affected by reorganization before! What an end to the week. 😂

Anyone else need to sit & eat in silence? Just me & my Babybel Canada 😂 to recharge 🔋.

During a nonstop day of giving ALL the energy, I need a little snack + absolutely nothing. Introvert teachers… you get it. 🤪

We give all our energy and attention to the kiddos all day, I need little moments of nothing to reset. I’m inspired by those who thrive on social interactions during breaks! It takes so much out of me. Which one are you? Extrovert or introvert?

It’s always a little chaotic, a little exhausting, and somehow exactly where we’re meant to be. 🥹 Here’s to a year of big growth, tiny moments, and SO many memories with this crew. 🎀
